Dave Whelan (no joke) said Noble was great for wigan what he did when he first took over he should always be respected for it.
He said he was a brian noble fan but the time was right for a change
He also said this wigan side reminded him of leeds a few seasons back..making semis but just couldnt get over the line. they made the change by bring Smith in and it brought in that bit extra they needed. He believes this appointment could bring that bit extra to wigan to get them over the line.

Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| The old fella Mal at the start spoke a lot of sense and the presenters were speaking to him like he was the local loony.
He basically said last week KFC was giving it to Sam Tomkins and no one did anything about it and we could do with someone like Wane to say to KFC 'Do that again and you will get this....BOOM!

Half an hour in, its a cracking listen.
Wane speaks so well considering he is both a Wiganer and an ex prop.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Never knew a prop could have so much knowledge and the fact that he is a Wigan lad makes it even more amazing we can understand him.

This is rubbish because I am in no doubt that if McGuire was advised about signings/contracts that Wigan would not have re-signed the likes of Coley + Bailey.

The implication is that Maguire was asked about potential big name signings Down Under, not contract extentions for current Wigan players, who he probaby wouldn't have had a great deal of information about.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

I can't know, of course, but i would imagine he will have contacts over here from whom he will have been given more info than we think.. info he will have needed to make the decision to accept the job, but i agree with your first point.

That's a similar point to what I've been thinking in regards to knowing oppositions weaknesses and strengths, after all McGuire can be excused for not knowing about players of other superleague teams.
Wane on the other hand while he has coached over here it's never been at a higher level than reserves so what will his knowledge be like of opposing teams and players? For me are new coaching teams only weakness to begin with could be there lack of background knowledge of opposing teams and players.
Now whether watching hours and hours of tapes could solve this by allowing them to see the other teams I don't know but I imagine it probably would. Another possibly easier way and following on from the Melbourne style of multiple assistant coaches could be to recruit another assistant coach someone who has previous coaching experience here at more than just reserve level and therefore is well versed in other teams strengths and weaknesses.

| It was good coverage the radio station did of Wigan. I was impressed with Shaun Wane and Michael Mcguire, they both came across well.
I like how they want to win and the way they talked has made me excited for next season.
Appointing Michael Mcguire is a big gamble by the chairman, however I think with where Wigan are as a club, now is the right time to take that gamble.
Brian had done a fine job but at the end of the day the whole place needed a fresh approach!. The last few seasons have been inconsistent and i was getting bored of this win one lose one thing that the warriors kept doing.
Hopefully under this new regime things will be better!

Been thinking about that one. Wane spoke very highly of both Coley & Bailey, perhaps IL had MM in the bag along time ago and Wane gave the nod to resign up the players for next, year.

MM admited last night that he has seen little of the SL this year. However Wane does seem quite versed in the English game, perhaps with his knowledge and MM coaching skills, not to mention the 3 assistant coaches (at the moment) we have what looks like a good set up.

I hope he didn't. I doubt he did. I think he wouldn't have had much input with the first team this year, would have been too busy concentrating on coaching the reserves I would imagine.
