Agreed. i would want him to name his full staff and hope with his experience in the field a very good conditioner would be on his way with him, not one of his mates.

| Quote: thepriestman85 "Whilst that would be one excellent collection of former great players I personally don't think Matty Johns or Lam are the right type of people we need at Wigan.
Johns and Lam are both likeable & funny guys and i can see them going the same way Forshaw has at Wigan as they’d be to close to the players. It’s just the type of characters they are as they have to be one of the boys.
I’d personally like the fitness coach next season to be someone from outside the old boy RL network. If we are going to maximise our facilities and potential we need to be recruiting the top people out there.
If Maguire is coming maybe we will see a mirror of the current situation he’s come from with two assistant coaches one coaching the forwards and one coaching the backs?
I’d go for this if it did mirror the Storm set up;
Head Coach-MaGuire
1st Head coach & Forwards coach –Wane
2nd Head coach & Backs coach- Harris(Can’t think of another back out there who has coaching exp)
21’s-????????
18’s-Radders
Fitness coach- If we don’t got outside the old boys club I’d love to see Pongia brought in.
What do people think of Sculthorpe being brought in? Ultimate pro in his day as well as very respected…..'"
Head Coach and Backs Coach - Michael Maguire
Assistant Coach and Forwards Coach - Shaun Wane
Assistant Coach and Halves Coach - Adrian Lam
Reserves Coach - John Pendlebury
Assistant Reserves Coach - Andy Farrell
Academy Coach - Kris Radlinski
Assistant Academy Coach - Phil Bailey
Strength and Conditioning Coach - Steve Hampson
The Wigan put back into Wigan I say!

Very rarely does a new coach from abroad bring a whole back room team with him.
I'd find it even less likely that Maguire will do this as he’s never been a head coach before so won’t have his own guys to bring.
It’s far more likely that he’ll have to look at whose available at the club already and then look at CV’s of ex players like Sculthorpe & Harris as not many coaches from Aus will come over to coach the 21’s or 18’s at Wigan.

Harris has only recently got a gig of his own.

Only at Wales tho isn't it? There was talk about him and Nobby linking up at Celtic next season?
If he's available I’d go for him as there are very few ex GB back players who have gone into coaching.
I know Maguire will have some good back ideas as that’s part of what he does at the Storm but I’d still like to see a dedicated coach for that area of the team.

As for any bitterness, Noble saidI’ve loved it, what an experience. I got there and the joint was a shambles. They were 12 points off the pace. We’ve built a considerable bridge. I’m really proud[/i.”

You would hope he has demanded this.
If he is happy with the credentials of older players, then Lam as 20's coach and Pongia/Hampson as conditioners would work for me, but if he sees better people out their, get them in.

Fair play to him and he is right.
Good luck Brian.

Agreed - my opinion of the fella, who has been a great ambassador for the club since the day he arrived, is only enhanced by his comments in the last few days. I wish him well with whatever he goes on to do.

Perhaps with the short time he'd have to make appointments we may just run with what we've got, like the playing staff, and then it can be reassessed once he's worked a season with them.

and hes right.
people calling for his head mid season were reminded (by me) of the fantastic job he did in keeping us up. He got us up to the pack, then the RFL deducted our points, ans he had to start again. The players of course played a part.
next 3 seasons he was 80 mins away from old trafford, the last 2 he was a converted try away.
we need to move on though, and nobbys doing the right thing.
the guys been a great press spokesman, keeping his thoughts to himself by answering critics in riddles (eggs etc).
he could quite easily have come out blaming the players, bt he didnt (in public anyway).
good luck nobby, you will be remembered as the guy who saved us from agent millwards plan to get us into NL1.

| Quote: LovesToSpooge "I personally will be chuffed to bit's if we get McGuire and Wane together as a team, for me they form everything that I want in a Wigan coaching team.
Wane brings knowledge of the current juniors at the club as well as the history and importance of wearing the Wigan shirt to the table, while McGuire would bring new cutting edge techniques and methods to the club which may just enable us to move to that next level.
All in all I would be very happy with that appointment however whether they could turn some of the current players around is a doubt after all you can't polish a turd.'"
Yes you can, it's called Dorodango (google it)

Well I never, I stand corrected. I thought about watching some videos on the process but seeing as it's dinner time I though better of it.
