| Quote: Geoff "Why should they? The football fixtures were already out, and flagged to the RFL as IL explains in the video, when the RFL created the clash despite that. The biggest problem is that 4-day-turnaround "ban", which seems to me to be at the behest of those clubs with small squads - the tail wagging the dog yet again.'"
The turnaround thing is poorly executed. At Leeds we played Cas on a Thursday after a Sunday game and then again we played them in the super 8's on a Thursday after playing Catalans away on Saturday night....yes technically a 5 day turnaround but still stupid to play the Thursday after Catalans away. Even next week we play Catalans away 6 days after a WCC, as stupid a schedule post WCC you could think of.

| To be fair the Latics match was scheduled first. In my opinion, after watching the interview, the blame lies at the door of the RFL for ignoring our requests not to schedule a home match on the 26th and then coming up with ludicrous suggestions about moving the fixture to different ground. The next best solution has finally been agreed on after IL played hardball but too late in the day for fans of both Wigan and Salford due to the RFL fannying about making stupid suggestions for months. This could and should all have been dealt with before Xmas.

I thought he was going to use it as a bit of good news at the end of the interview to soften the blow, but it's still unresolved.
I get that it's out of the club's hands BUT I thought long and hard about renewing my STs this year. I can't make the Salford game on Thursday. Another late change on Easter Monday (I booked all my holidays around this) and it will be a very easy decision next year

| RFL in "unable to organise a -up in a brewery" shocker. They're the worst governing body in all of sport. Including FIFA.

| I'm not sure who's to blame for this.
I know who isn't to blame for this. The fans.
This is an appalling shambles and for it not to have been sorted out until now is a disgrace.
It must never be allowed to happen again and all those responsible need to get their act together.

| Clearly there's been a lot of obstacles that couldn't be overcome but I take two main points from it.
1-We're not allowed to play home games on a Friday night anymore if Latics play Saturday (presume that may just be between the start of our season and end of there's though as the pitch is always fine in Aug/Sept which is the other cross over period)
2-We refused to move a home league game away from the town of Wigan and would rather lose two points (unless we can move it 200+ miles to London).

I think the main point NK is that for us the World Club challenge isn't practical because of our ground share.
The club has effective sold its season ticket holders to the cross our fingers we might make it work but sod it it's the only chance bar Saints where we can get. +18000 crowd scenario.
I like IL but on this he is demonstrably out of touch to the perennial season ticket holder. I for one will not renew my ST in the foreseeable future. I regret renewing this season with growing anger and disappointment.
Poor management skills shown by the club but even worse a total lack of respect for ST holders.
Unless the club turns this around with strong weekly performances resulting in silverware the knock on effect from this financially for the club could be immense.
For the sake of a friendly we sacrifice potentially 2 points, a significantly lower crowd and more importantly the goodwill of the supporters. Poor, very poor management.

| What reason did he give for not being able to play on the Friday?

| Our owner claims Wigan Warriors are a global brand yet he believes all the teams supporters live within a two miles radius of the DW Stadium and can go to a home match at the drop of a hat .
What is wrong with Wigan v Salford *
* please be aware that there is a possible problem with the scheduling of this match. Please don't purchase Advance (non refundable ) train tickets from Penzance to Wigan or Inverness to Wigan and/or book non refundable hotel rooms at Wigan Premier Inn / Wigan Oak until the club confirm the actual date this match will be played .
Not rocket science is it
Diitto the HKR game on Easter Monday .
"We dont/won't take Wigan home Superleague Matches away from the DW Stadium" .
When did the DW Stadium have a South Bermondsey post code I ask myself .
Personally found that monologue a bit hard to swallow or even understand at times .
As for the 4 day turn around rule I thought it was a simple rule. Now it appears it's more akin to rocket science. Contradicted himself on that one a few times or maybe just confused a simple lad that much that features had given up the will you live after that 23 minutes.
To sum up
See you all Saturday and we will once again board the Merry Go Round that is Wigan Warriors . Would we change I not a chance we love it that's why we (me at least) KEEP COMING BACK.
As always Regards , EW

He didn't really which was the strangest part of the interview. He mentioned that they were worried about the newly laid pitch getting cut up and being ruined but then in the same breath said we've been trying to move the fixture since last September(well before we knew how wet a winter we'd have or that we'd eventually need a new pitch).
He didn't say it but it's clear that we're not allowed to play on Friday nights before Latics play on Saturdays. That used to be the case in the Latics prem days didn't it? I thought that had died off though over the last few years.
He sort of blamed the RFL's scheduling but we're not giving them much to work with. We've got a stadium we can't use on Friday nights every other week from Feb-May and we're not allowed to use it at all from mid May to July. When written down that's frightening!!!

| I just wish the interviewer had asked "why doesn't this happen at Huddersfield or Hull?". We need our own ground or a more accomodating Latics and we'll never have either.

| Their pitches are better in fairness so the real test will come at the start of next year. A million quid is being spent on a drainage system that should have been put in when the stadium was built (but Whelan went for the cheap option). That is being put in place to solve the pitch problems permenently.
If that works and we're still being forced to move fixtures and have two months away every year then the shared stadium idea is dead for me.

There is no ban on 4 day turnarounds. All teams play twice over the Easter weekend which is a shorter turnaround.
