It would have been great to have seen him chosen to hand the CC Trophy out this Saturday and i am sure that the whole of the RL community would have given him the adulation that his courage deserves

Sadly Steve is in hospital in Oxford ATM. More tests / ops I believe. He's a fighter though and will be back next year.

Could the RFL seriously not get anyone that is a little more famous? No wonder some people from other sports think Rugby League is a laughing stock and people from within the sport wonder why it cant get sponsors.

No harm to the lad and congratulations on winning Gold but to have a 25 year old lad from Hull that means little to many smacks of desperation and shows the sport in a very poor light.

I have heard they also asked Bradley Wiggins but he turned it down/had other commitments, maybe the idea was to have HullFC supporting Luke Campbell give us the trophy if we won, and Wiggins if you won...which would have been a good 'story' for the media.

its a bit poor when we turn to a guy most rugby fans have never heard of, but in fairness to the RFL, in this day and age famous names want an exorbitant fee for doing this kind of thing.
