| Quote: broughtonwire "Gleeson hasn't been world class for about 3 years, hence nobody wanted him in the NRL and not getting a look in at the 4 nations. The deal was good for both sides.'"
He didn't get a look in for England because Tony Smith held a grudge against him. Thats fair enough. Smith was the main man and he made the choices but to leave out Englands best available centre(Senior best overall but wasn't available) was a poor error regardless of which club Gleeson wanted to play for.
I hope Gleeson takes out any frustrations tonight. He's looked razor sharp in the first 2 games and is ready to have a huge year by the looks of him.

Nobody on this thread has said that Gleeson is world class at the moment, but if he keep on improving and is showing the form week in week out then I see no reason why he should'nt be included in the England squad.. Shenton and Ryan Atkins are England quality Centres... your having a laugh!!'"
Watch out for Atkins tonight he's not done much attack wise so far so tonight could be the night.
I rate Gleeson when he's interested but that deal of Mathers and 100k was very good.

His record at Wire was pretty good was it not?
He was once a fans favourite aswell. I always thought he was one of Wires better players when things weren't going that well but in all honesty the move to Warrington was one he never really wanted.
Things worked out for both clubs, Gleeson and Mathers in the end.

| Yeah everyone knows he was forced out by Saints and didn't want to play for us, at times he was top notch then he would go missing Smith saw enough not to like and shipped him out.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

To be fair to Gleeson, he must have been seriously pi$$ed about what happened. Yes, he was "guilty" (allegedly) of trangressions, but so was Long. I don't want to get into the why's and wherefore's, but he was the scapegoat for sure. And to add insult to injury... He got dumped in Warrington..

| Mathers is returning to the form he showed at Leeds under smith now, once again under smith at warrington. I wonder if it was the coaching rather than the player that was the problem during his spell at wigan?

Give over, the Cas game last week was how Mathers performed for Wigan on a regular basis.
Evans walked past him, and than the c*ck up from the kick that led to Cas's third try.
Vintage Mathers I'm afraid.

No, his lack of a pair in defence is his problem, same as at Leeds. Great going forward in a team making chances, but crap in defence, especially front on defence.
He was soon found out in Australia, and to say his injury was the reason he came home is naive. If they thought he was worth keeping, they'd have kept him and got him fit.

If it was I'd suspect it was the previous regime.
Mathers blows very hot and cold and often comes up with brainfarts - like the one he did at Cas last week. The ones he did at Wigan tended to be difference in the final result, which didn't help him warm to the fans.

The two red cards spring to mind when i think of mathers time at Wigan, even though he had some decent games

Mathers is not a reliable fullback hes the weak link in your side and on tonights "anti social" performance Im glad he is no longer involved with Wigan.
