If you go north through manly you can take the missus to where they film home and away, it's a small beach but I can't think of the name of it and no it's not called summer bay. Doyle's is well worth a visit, awesome seafood. I would also recommend doing the bridge walk, see the blue mountains and visit a couple of vineyards if only for all the free samples. One word of warning, don't get caught speeding..... Especially if it's a bank holiday

There doesn't seem to be a non-attending membership available any more, as far as I can see.
Living in Sydney ,it's a bit too far to go to attend home games, so a season ticket would be something of an expensive way of doing things!
It would be cheaper to get a Rabbitohs membership, at least I could watch a few games then!

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "Also take the Ferry up to Parramatta (about 1 hour) Peter Wynnes Sports shop there is well worth a visit for RL memorabilia. If you're lucky you may bump into Brett Kenny in there.
You can buy a three or five day pass that lets you use the ferries, trains and buses all around Sydney. Well worth doing.'"
Just but a My Multi 3, its $61 for a week and you can go anywhere on Trains, Buses and Ferries, probably ideal any for anyone coming down.

-Definitely head up to the Blue Mountains if you can, go to Katoomba there's lots to do there.
-Harbour ferries/cruises
-Jet boats from Circular quay
-Manly beach (bondi is crap) get the ferry over there, takes about 30 mins and you get great views of the City
-Darling harbour for food, drink and entertainment
-Sydney Tower eye, amazing view of the City up there
-ANZ Stadium tour
-Like someone else said head to Peter Wynns in Parramatta. Tell him your a Wiganer and have a good chat, and you will get a discount, always works for me Its a dream Rugby League shop.
-Bridge Climb
-Aquarium/Zoo/Wildlife park (you have to see a Kangaroo and Koala)
-Luna Park
-Go drinking in Surry Hills/Paddington
-Fox Studios/entertainment quarter
-Go see the Harbour Bridge/Opera House
-Plenty of places to go shopping
-Go to the Rocks
-Star City Casino
-Hyde Park Barracks (See how the convicts lived, lol)
-Do a City Sightseeing bus tour
-Cronulla beach Ok its not touristy but its great town/beach and you can even head to Shark Park and have a walk around there or watch the players train.
-Chinatown
Its a a city, there's tonnes to do
Buy a MyMulti 3, when you get here. Its a 7 day pass that covers all Train, Buses and Ferries in the Sydney area and only costs $61.

| Quote: Bondi_Warrior "Its not that bad, but everywhere will be expensive when compared to prices in Wigan. If you pay $10 you would expect a pint. I think anyone who comes down will just have to get use to the fact that Sydney is expensive but you cant compare prices between a town in the north of England to a major world city in Australia. At least compare prices from London.
Darling harbor is perfect for meet ups. Decent bars and plenty of outdoor areas, and plenty of places to put up some flags
It is 15 years since I spent three weeks in Sydney so I couldn't give any guide about prices. However what I do remember is that the prices in the RSL clubs were far cheaper than here. I lived on steaks (lunch & dinner) and washed down with the cheapest plonk I have ever known. The two RSL clubs I found in Sydney were located in George St (the main one) and Barrack St (only open at lunch time to cater for the city workers. RSL stands for Returned Servicemen League - in other words like our British Legion. You have to sign in but just say the magic words "from the UK" and there's no problem. If you go during the evening at some point the lights will dim and everybody is asked to stand for a minutes silence while over the loudspeakers the usual tribute to the fallen is recited. The same tribute that is always used here ( they shall grow not old etc), so it is over in no time. I stayed in a hotel in York St and the club in Barrack St was just round the corner. Did most of the tourist things while I was there but the only one I repeated was a trip to Watsons Bay which I adored. Watsons Bay is the place where the famous Doyles Restaurant is situated. Seafood to die for - but not cheap.

Blue Mountains are well worth seeing but quite a way out of Sydney. If you go be aware that one of the main attractions, the giant stairway is about 1000 steps (not all easy and even) down to the valley below. There is then about a 4 mile walk along the valley to the scenic railway to get back up as an alternative to mounting the steps. A bit arduous to say the least. I should know, I did it. Mind you I was 70 at the time.

Yes RSL are pretty good for cheap beer and food. They are everywhere, we have one in Cronulla right on the beach. Price wise else where, you would expect to pay around $5-6 for a schooner and $8-10 for a pint.

Recently have had my sister and brother- in- law from England out here for around 10 days and did quite a few of the items listed. I live a couple of villages away from Katoomba and prior to moving here lived for 30 years near Cronulla.
Also did the Doyles/ Watsons Bay ferry trip and a visit to the Penrith Leagues Club(Bill Ashhurst depicted on a mural there). We also had dinner at the Opera House on my 75th birthday!

Nice place to live, the Blue Mountains. I really like Katoomba, stayed there a few times. I currently live in Cronulla, right near the beach front. Absolutely love it here.

| Bought 15 tickets in the Wigan block today. They are so cheap, $18 for adults and $5 for kids, and I got a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) for just $40.
