| Looks like false allegations of being punched can be added to the Saints charge sheet.
I wouldn’t have expected that from honest Johnny Lomax, the man Wilkin says never stays down unless he’s really hurt (bar the 237 times a season he stays down when not hurt).

Expected better from you.
I doubt there’s a tougher player in the game than Lomax with what he’s been through injury wise and as a kid.
Continually takes the line on and gets hit late yet an opposition player is never cited nor banned. He’s one tough bugger.
There was a lot of verbals and niggles in that game on Friday with Walters being the prime offender. Seems like he spat his dummy out after the Saints players goaded him after he threw the ball in touch from his flick pass.
Looks like Lomax got caught up in it. If he’s kept quiet whilst a player has been wrongly sent off then so what.
It’s called gaining a competitive advantage.
Matautia wasn’t banned either. I’m surprised he was even charged bearing in mind the initial contact was above the knee.
Good to see Saints making all the headlines again. Keep them coming.

I get the ‘I expect better from you’ line now and again and I think that’s because I’m reasonably balanced and fair most of the time but I can’t just say opposition fans want to hear all of the time. I have total respect for how Lomax has overcome injuries and managed to cut a fantastic career. It doesn’t take away the fact he has a liking for staying down on the floor multiple times a season, looking like he’s done for, only to get up and crack on. If it happened ‘now and again’ I’d think that was a bloke showing total bravery, but it happens that often that he looks to be trying it on most of the time. I’ve covered it previously that I’ve felt he’s been a leader of Woolf’s ‘tactical rests’ and I stick by that. A side who plays at the most incredible intensity you could see, needs to recharge the batteries mid game and a large number of knocks, requiring stoppages has played its part.
As for this incident. I thought he looked a bit of a prat on the night tbh and that rings true now. He was prepared to get in to Walters and that’s fair enough (Walters had been giving it himself) but I’d have expected an experienced head like that to be calming the situation down, not pouring petrol on the fire and then seemingly lying about what went on. The things I’ve described throughout this post aren’t things I see Roby doing for example. That is a total and utter class act and a player who is genuinely as tough as I’ve seen.

| Lomax "lying" about what happened, give over.
The TJ saw a punch, the panel said the video was inconclusive (not that it didn't happen). Was the TJ "lying" too? Maybe Lomax felt a bang to the head and assumed a punch? Maybe he did actually get punched at a point in the video when bodies were obscuring views?
Lomax is one of the toughest and fairest players in RL, gets banjoed late taking the ball to the line CONSTANTLY, and any view to the contrary is absolute nonsense based on the evidence of a long career.

| Are you a covert Saints fan. I'm surprised you've seen so many Saints games to say he has a liking for staying down multiple times. a season.

| I have this black rectangular thing in the corner of my living room and Saints games appear on it most weeks.
If you guys don’t want to believe Lomax likes to play hurt numerous times a season, you believe it. It would be like me believing Sam Tomkins didn’t play for penalties or try and referee games in his time with Wigan (and now at Catalans when they appear on black rectangular thing in the corner of the room). Lomax is a cracking player and has done superbly well to overcome the adversity early in his career but he still likes to roll around on the floor most weeks. As I say, it’s probably tactical and not that he’s behaving like a footballer (although telling tales to the ref is pushing it). You guys seem to defending him saying ‘he’s not soft’ but I’m not claiming that at all.

| It was a strange one with Lomax as he's not normally the type to lose his cool like that.
This is a player though that is universally liked by players and coaches across SL. Jackson Hastings for one loved the guy, you listen to the likes of Kev Brown now who waxes lyrical about him. I also know that Wane is a huge fan (perhaps not so much now with his England withdrawals!) Remember also that he played last season with a torn bicep, its little wonder that there is so much respect for him. I don't recall one ex player accusing him of milking injuries though or staying down if he's not hurt.
I just feel that the anti-Saints rhetoric is getting worse with each passing week. Every week there is a spotlight on us in relation to incidents and opposition fans don't seem happy unless we have a player banned every week. I get it, we have been the dominant force and us winning 5 in a row wouldn't be good for the game, but the bitterness is nauseating tbh
Back to Walters though and Wigan look like they are getting a good player. He is a proper s***house, the type of player that opposition fans hate but you love to have in your team. I can certainly see why Wigan fans are pleased with the signing (if the rumours indeed are true)

| Just as a matter of interest, what did Lomax say to the referee, I've turned my volume up to full and still can't make it out.

| You can be a tough bugger and be a cheat at the same time.
Staying down holding his head when he's taken a big shot to the body being one of his go to moves

| Really looking forward to Friday. That performance from us yesterday was our best of the season. Hudds were poor no doubt but that was the Saints of old. The intensity in defence as under Woolf but also with some superb attack as under Holbrook. Welsby, Dodd and Lomax linked up really well and we scored some fantastic tries. From our point of view I hope its a turning point from an inconsistent campaign so far and if we start to pick up form now then its a really good time of the season to do so.
Percival and Lees back and having the likes of Paasi and Matautia on the bench gave us some real punch and of course everyone's favourite pantomine villain Knowles is back next week too. We win the game and our game in hand and we are right back in the hunt for finishing top 4 as a minimum.
Peet will demand a response from Wigan naturally and they will come out of the blocks firing. I know they are a bit light in the forwards but with Marshall, French and now Field back they have pace to burn and can score easily from their own 20. Going wide early against our compressed defence is always a good option. I expect Saints to target Field defensively so it will be interesting to see how the game pans out.
Really hope its a sell out but can't see it given people will be on holiday, weekends away with the good weather etc. Lets hope its as good as the Good Friday game but obviously with a different result this time!
