There's a small write up on ceefax tonight that there's two superleague clubs tracking Thuston who's contract expires at the end of 2010, could Wigan be one of the two??

IMO he would have a greater impact than Barrett did and would be a fantastic mentor for Sam.

Would be an immense signing.

IMO opinion this is nothing but pre contract propagana prior to him signing a massive contract at queensland.



"there are two SL clubs intersted in signing him" it does not take a genius to workout that ours and saints chairmen are both in Aus looking for players, not to mention that this is big news in Aus because the public is furious that we are over there to poach their best players.

So with Carl Webb drink drive conviction unless Lenegan has a loophole of some sort I doubt we will sign him just look at Eastwood and Crocker.

He was in France at the weekend and stated on GMR before that he wont be going to OZ. He said its a waste of time and money in the era of e-mails and video phones etc.

It would be fantastic though, better than Barrett in many areas IMO, he is still young really at 26 he could play on to at least 32, this means whoever gets him would probably keep him for a long time as he says there will not be too many contracts after this one.



IMO if we are going to sign a top class 7 we should get rid of Piggy.



Also IL has always said he will not pay over the odds, I have a feeling that with Thurston being an Austrailian international, winning big competitions and with a reputation as one of the best half-backs in the world, he may want quite a high wage.

He's pulling everyones legs and his agent should be told where to stick it from every club in superleague.



As for Webb it'd be a risky signing imo but one we may have to take. It could be a sensational signing or an absolute nightmare but if theres no dead cert what do you do.



Saying that if he's got a criminal conviction we'd be struggling anyway.

He's not actually got a criminal conviction yet though has he? He's been charged of which he may well be acquitted, thus his criminal record should stay clean (if it already was clean).



However, it was the same with the Greg Bird case and look at how that turned out.

By 2011 the quotas for overseas players will be reduced. That should allow clubs to bring in at least one top class overseas player, if they do their budgeting correctly.

But Thurstan would be throwing away his International and Origin careers. That would surely only happen for masses of lolly, which no-one over here can afford.



If he goes anywhere, it'll be to Union, but most likely he's stay where he is, on a much better contract.

agree, the boy will cost a blimmin fortune.

Union will throw way more at him than either RL comp can, the only thing that will keep him in the code is rep rugby so that will totally discount SL as a realistic option.
