If we don't move for him, he'll most likely end up at Saints or Warrington, or maybe - if he's a total knucklehead - Salford.'"
Just signed an extension at Wakefield. Don't worry about our SL status. We are financially in a better place than previously and no longer have to sell players to keep afloat.

I'm not worried at all. You can go or stay. Good on you for producing an exciting kid, but signed extension or not - and we know all about those (and how useless they are) - I still don't think he'll be with you long-term.
This reminds me a bit of Solomona. Wigan enquired about him when Millward was briefly our coach. It didn't happen, and this forum was full of Wakey fans sneering that there was no chance of Sol ever leaving Trinity as he loved it so much. About one month later he left.

Tom Johnstone has recently signed a 4 year contract so I think it'll cost Wigan a fair bit with Trinity financially stable unlike previously when you stumped up loads of money for Nigel Wright.....didn't work out a good investment then did it? .....
....strange that Wigan seem to want both Carney and Johnstone when they are losing Charnley and Sarginson....You ought to be looking for a decent centre.
Should be a good game next week against Wigan with Trinity getting players back in Anthony Tupou and Scott Anderson so should be near full strength at home....

To be honest, you can relax.
I very much doubt Wigan are after Tom Johnstone. We have too many projects players as it is. I think both Carney and Joe Burgess would be ahead of him in order of preference. You need to be more worried about the likes of Saints and Leeds, both of whom are prone to break out the chequebook in times of crisis. FWIW, I don't think even Leeds are very likely to swoop for him given that the one area where they aren't currently weak is in the threequarters, and even though Saints have now lost Makinson for the rest of the season, I suspect the transfer fee would be too much for them.

Rocky came to Wakefield as a thirteen year old on a 12 month scholarship at the end of that he went to FC on a two year scholarship, when coming to the end of his time at Hull Wigan nipped in and signed him from Normanton knights who held his registration, I'm not interested in Wigin and it's policies regarding recruiting junior players but I'm sure you know with you speaking to his dad on occasions how shabby Wanes treatment of the kid has been, just as I'm sure that if Wane and Radlinski had given their blessing young Hampshire would be on a season long loan at Wakefield.

| I hope we bring in some experienced players to supplement those coming through the ranks.

1-We're run as a business and Lenagan has a philosophy of allowing players to spread their wings with the hope that they'll come back at some point. It makes the club money and they seem to keep strong relationships with players who leave. '"
My slight issue with these two in particular is that they're at the end of their contracts - we don't get a penny for them, which is, IMO poor business by the club...

Why is it poor business?
The alternative to is to try and sell them early before their contracts are up just to raise cash which means you lose their services to the team and have to find replacements anyway. You can't force them to sign a new deal just so the club can raise a fee so if a good player sees his contract out that is what you want.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| Anyone up for a Pat Richards return? Just in case Burgess wants to stay another year at Roosters?

I very much doubt Pat would be, I'm sure he said the main reason for coming back over was to live in France and experience the lifestyle.

I usually take what players say when they sign for a new club with a pinch of salt.
Usually along the lines of 'I spoke to (insert ex player for club from Aus/NZ) and he recommended it, (insert club name) is a great club with a lot of history I'll do my best to get (insert club name) back to the lofty heights that they experienced (insert last successful period of the club).
If they sign for Catalans it's the culture, if it's a UK team they mention the history.
I reckon he'd snap out hand off to be honest and that gives us time to find the right winger and not just what is available at the end of the season, it gives us longer to scout.

I dunno, I find it hard to imagine that the club didn't put out some informal feelers to PR when he left the NRL. I would have thought, if he wanted to be here, he'd be here.
