30462.jpg [b:3oz7jfnu]Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Some people within the club [Castleford] have come out with comments saying we're beatable and it's a great game for them and they're very confident.
Many of the comments I've heard have been bordering on disrespectful.
They can be as confident as they want, but they're going to get a tough game this weekend and we'll be trying our best to make sure they don't get that win.
We've played in some big games over these last few years and they've not played in as many, if any, so to be that confident is very risky for them.
They come here with confidence because they've scored a lot of points and beaten us at home, but I wouldn't be overconfident if I was them."
[u:3oz7jfnu]Incidentally Wane's mob got stuffed 16 - 4[/u:3oz7jfnu] [/b:3oz7jfnu]:30462.jpg |

| Quote: MattyB "Not that long ago we were quite comfortably the team to beat in SL. Reigning champions, best attack, best defence. Of course we eased off towards the back end of the season as usual giving away the shield. However we were at Old Trafford yet again ready to take the crown away from our bitter rivals. They weren't that confident so much so they failed to sell thousands of their tickets in week leading up to the final.
Around the same time Shaun Wane had managed to shrug off his 'ape' jibes, hell....even on the VT forum he was being lined up as the next National Coach
Then....
2nd October 2014
SKY decided to show 'Warriors down under' and it all came crashing down.
I watched it once, found it horrendous. As cringing as the Alex Murphy post match swear fest back in the early eighties. His dressing room comments should have stayed there! He came across as thuggish and very limited.
At the time I hoped it would spur us onto victory regardless.
And then the GF.........
and it's been downhill since then!
Every single game this season (London Skolars apart) Wigan have not performed well), I include Brisbane in that as well. Defensively sound yes but average in attack!
Long weeks & months ahead. Oh well, theres always the cup!'"
Love the reference to Saints failing to sell tickets for the GF - clearly no memory of the Wigan end at Murrayfield when you thought you'd lose. Still that's the beauty of sport.
I think there were 3 instances last year which are now coming home to roost. Firstly Wane's comments before the Cas cup match fired them up and they showed how to beat you.
Then Nathan Brown really wound him up after the DW match even to the surprise of Saints fans. It also subtly or perhaps not began to put pressure on referees.
Finally who ever let the Sky documentary be made and then Flowers melt down sealed what's happening now. Teams are facing up to the aggression and Wigan's discipline is letting them down.
However you're good enough to change the plan eventually and bounce back. Still expect to see you in the play offs......

| I and most other Cas fans never expected that. For most of the game we were wondering if we could hold onto the lead and couldn't believe it when the lead kept stretching. have watched RL for over 60 years now and its hard to recollect a Wigan team in recent years that have been so devoid of attacking ideas. 2 of our tries did come from lucky bounces but you are sadly lacking leadership without lockers.

SW having a whinge?
Quote: To be honest we never start well and that's something I'm trying to fix. The fact is we're not the biggest team, compared to some Super League teams we're small and we're athletic which never lends itself to starting well because we're playing against bigger teams that are fit but we seem to finish well because of that reason.
"Wigan have started the past few seasons slowly with Wane admitting it wasn't an acceptable situationwhen Wigan lose people get more stressed than any other club."'"

Waney better have a word with Lenagan about the size of the forwards because he seems under the impression that the signings of Tautai and Patrick have fixed that.
I'm just glad somebody has come out and admitted we're still tiny, I thought my eyes were going!

It may be Waneys eyes that are going if he thought that the signing of Tautai and Patrick would add size to the pack.

Not all top players are Australian. Lots of brits have moved around in the last couple of years that would massively improve Wigan. Lots of Australians too, who whilst perhaps not big names would improve Wigan. I remember Rogues saying Walsh was no good and never takes the line on etc.
I also reckon one of your biggest issues is at hooker (particularly with limited or very young halves) but wane has too much of a mickey mac crush to notice.
It would be fascinating to know who signs players at Wigan and how close to full cap you are.

| I watched Penrith v the Bulldogs last night and James Segeyaro scored a fantastic try. What a fine footballer he is. Nails, too. How we could do with someone like that.

Nah, he's just a "scooter hooker" isn't he . . . . .?
Stick to tackling and penalties, none of this fancy dan running the ball or scoring and creating tries.
