I don’t have the energy to look at any isolated incident at the minute. Smithies penalty was silly, Hardaker I’d never back for any 50/50 kick even in a run of the mill league game against Salford, so certainly not in this game and the penalty to level the scores at 4-4 was a really really harsh call but all these things can happen (shock horror you Saints fans calling for Kendall not to get the game).
The best side won’t I felt. That’s tough to take when they were the best side by about 0.0001% but they just had enough to warrant the win.
Jeez I can’t wait to get back to watch a game against then next year. They should be pretty special again.

I don't think we should be pointing the finger at any player, all 17 gave their all. You can't win a game of rugby league on your own. Hindsight is a great thing but at the end of the day we lost because the rugby gods were not on our side. On the whole we were excellent and until the last second Saints didn't look like they would get over the whitewash. If our execution had been better we would have won comfortably but it wasn't. Saints had the lion's share of possession and we had to tough it out, but when Bibby scored I was confident that we would go on and claim the spoils (what do I know?). It is easy to say what we should or should not have done from our armchairs, if Zak's kick goes over he is an hero, if Bevan knocks the ball dead we are into Golden Point, if the ball bounces over off the crossbar rather than out would we have won? If the touch judge doesn't rule a penalty do we win? Finals can be decided on small margins and on this occasion the bounce favoured our rivals from over Billinge Hill. We need to focus on the positives because we cannot change the result. Our young players have come of age, our recruits will improve us next season and all our players will be even more hungry for success.
A great game of rugby league delivered by two well matched teams. If that doesn't bring the crowds back nothing will.

| Just seen the clip of the Saints lads, including coaches, support staff and juniors all get together to clap Lockers down the tunnel.
What a game we support. Full credit to all of them to take that minute, in a night of celebration for them, to acknowledge a legend of the game.

| Saints fan here, wanted to come on here to say how great both teams were. Either could have got the win. We have both showed ourselves to be head and shoulders above the rest of the league tonight and the Wigan players should feel proud of themselves - especially SOL on a fantastic career. Cheers

I wasn't pointing finger, just redressing the balance against not taking the penalty. If Hardaker kicks it we win, if Smithies doesn't make that "tackle" we may win.
Lets just appreciate one of the all time great Grand Finals.

Good on you mate, it was a special game and I know the old cliche of ‘nobody deserved to lose’ is boring but it summed up the night.
Have a good one.

| Let’s have some stoicism
Bad result but move on
Replace or remove George Burgess next year and we are a different team
No crying no bleating take it on the chin
Lam pick up your mard lip and move onto 2021

| As the game was heading into the last 2 mins I was seething with Fages but I had a word with myself. No individual should be picked out from that.
It was a tough, tense, horrible 80 minutes. It was literally a game of inches.
Wel’ll walk away as Champions but as cliched as this it, what an absolutely brilliant advert for our game. If only we had a bunch of competent people
who knew how to sell it.....

It’s all ifs though. If the wind had have caught the ball from Makinsons DG it might have blew it straight out, if Welsby had have knocked on it’d have been extra time and golden point.
I know I went off on one earlier about not kicking the ball into their 20 and taking the DG on offer after the penalty but again it’s an “only if”. It was a bloody fantastic game, genuinely brilliant. It just didn’t go our way and IMHO the best team overall on the night won it.
I cannot wait for the rematch in 2021.

| Like everyone else, I am baffled at that decision to kick for goal from almost halfway. Two minutes on the clock, bang the penalty 20 yards closer, start from their 30 yard line and send the props in for 4 battering attempts over the next 90 seconds, then a drop goal attempt from in front of the sticks from 15-20 yards....
If it goes over - we win.
If it misses - hooter goes and we go to golden point.
Neither option gives Saints a chance of winning in regulation time.
I'm not a £100k+ a year coach and I can figure that one out.
Lam needs to explain why the club royally fecked it up.

| What a brilliant game of Rugby League pity it could not have been shown on terrestrial tv and more watching it .Both teams D was trojan like right up to the very last minute .Saints kicking game was far better than ours they must practice this to death on the training pitch high ball up in the air and keep onside at the kick and rush up. Our kicking game was abysmal straight to full back all players offside and no chase. The woodwork played a big part in the match with the ball hitting the cross bar from the conversion and hitting the upright from the drop goal and bouncing back for Saints to score. What fantastic resilience Wigan showed in the match in defense all the possession that Saints had and not score only a freak hitting the upright score in the very last minute. Cant wait for next season to watch this team play again. Was kicking at goal for the penalty the right thing? if it went over the game was won a lot of ifs if we had kicked to touch and gone for a drop goal? Saints line speed a lot faster than ours .
Covid decimated our season this year but will crowds bounce back when they can to watch the finest sport ever. The players this season of all teams were fantastic to play the games at all they must have put themselves out social distancing at all times.
