39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Quote: Wire_85 "You might be in for a nice little shock
Our backline of Hodgson, King, Atkins, Bridge and Joel is the best in the league and its only recently they have been able to all play together, if injuries stay away they are hard to stop.
Plus Hodgson's linking with the team gets better with every game plus Myler is really stepping up lately since Brier's has been out.
Its not the 80 odd points where I think we can improve its the against the big teams where we keep up the level of play longer like against Saints and Hudds great starts but didn't keep it up, Wigan game was awhile ago now but remember it being a very good defence effort.'"
Our backline is just as good, they proved it last season. See the GF. Sensational. But they have not even got out second gear in most games this year. When they do we will also be hard to stop. We are a team clearly trying to peak at the right time. Our backline also matched the St George backline in the WCC, they are the best club backline in the world.
Against the best teams you can't play like that for 80 mins, it is just not possible. We would have won 40-0 in the GF had we kept up our intensity from the first 25mins. What Warrington could do better is not let the teams back in to the game too much. They are so used to being in control that when saints and hudds came back at them they didn't look sure how to respond. They pulled through but warrington still don't have the play-off experience. They can play knock-out rugby... no doubt about that, they are the current holders of the cup, but play-off rugby is different because you need 3-4 maybe even 5 (including the last week of the regular season) big performances in a row. Wire don't have the experience of doing that in a high pressure situation.
Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Firstly, it's "you're", not "your".
Secondly, your Warrington chums ruined this thread with ridiculous dream team picks. So tootle off back to the Wire board please.

| I think our backline from 1-5 in comparison to Wires is probably a touch behind at the minute but could be as strong if not better when the play offs come round. The reason I say that is because we've got a right centre/wing combo still getting to know each other and as well as he's done Richards is still getting back from a very serious injury.
Wires backline has been exceptional this year and whichever way you look at it they'll be tough to stop. I've said it all season though that if anybody does stop them it will be us and us only.
There's nothing to choose between the 2 sides.

Thats what a mean keep it up in defence and attack.
Gleeson was awesome for you in that GF all IMO etc but attack wise I think ours is alot better yours may shade it defence wise, the playoff thing is just something we are just going to have to wait and see how we go.
My dream team this season would be a mix of Wire/Wigan but with Roby and TP on it thats for sure.

At least its a more mixed view than Yed 8 wire players is going a little too far.

| Anybody else think it's a little weird that hardly any huddersfield players get a mention considering how well they have done this year? Not criticising anyone's picks by the way because i wouldn't put any of their players in either. I guess it just shows they are a well drilled unit who play well as a team without the standout stars.

So you haven't noticed that they've had a distinct dip in form since they lost Danny Brough then? Think he'd have been a definite shout for the dream team 7 shirt if he hadn't picked up that injury

Brough might be a little unlucky to be overlooked - Dureau has grabbed headlines this year, but Brough was a shoe in for England until his injury.

| Brough is a good player, but would not get in this year's dream team. Dureau is a cert for the 7 jersey unless his recent injury rules him out for a long while.

| They lost their best back and best forward in Brough and LOD, Brough is due back either this or next week LOD is already back, they'll pick up again for the playoffs.
