Yes. Great bloke is Jonny. Saints thru and thru as well.

Looks like we nicked him from the dark side after all! (But I don't think it counts at 10 years old ...)

He's a very good player and has improved out of sight in a very short space of time. Hopefully he'll keep on improving. I like his reaction to pressure as well as his other talents. That's very promising. As is his willingness to motivate his team mates. All these things put together make for a valuable player.

| Must admit I'm a fan of Lomax very good young player and have to say great to see the young ones coming through in both Saints and Wigan to keep them fantastic derby games going...

Grand lad, apart from his darkside tendencies. He always used to turn up to OSJ training sessions in a Saints shirt, so even at that age he'd already been corrupted.

You mean he showed signs of significant intelligence at a very young age.

Why should he get picked before charnley? His work rate is no where near as good. Yards , hit ups and busts dont come close and only scored a try more. Its fustrating because there isnt anything special about him other than he is a class kicker. I dread to even think of him playin for england bringing the ball out of our own 20 against aussies and new zealad!

He's got pace but he hasn't yet developed the physical strength to push through like Gardner does for us, for instance. But he's excellent under the high ball, is an excellent finisher, great positional sense, is fast, has good balance, has a rugby brain and works hard. He's not just a goal kicker either, in terms of his kicking. He pulls off some fantastic kick offs, causing mayhem in the opposition. He's also developing an attack kick, which is useful. The only thing he lacks is physical strength. He can't help that as that's down to his genetic makeup.

| He can't help it?
This is part of the problem we have stepping up to the next level (International)!
The antipodean's produce some fine athletes. their kids hit the scene as beasts (generally). Our's look like slight kids, and often don't develop any further.
I see Foster as a fine club player for a few years to come, but even if you were to put him up against a crap winger like Meli, he'd be smashed around the park.

well thats just unlucky as there is probably 1000's of people who probably never made the grade because of their physical strength. Foster will be a good club player in a good team but he isnt a player who is going to change the game from out of nothing and his work rate cant be that good because pat richards has already took over him in most areas on the stats and thats playing 7 games less! he's made a total of 18 dummy half runs aswell. so thats basically averaging 1 a game with an other 2 chucked in along the way. how can a winger go a game with only having 1 scoot? maybe hes told not to because he isnt going to make any yards but then thats just shows that he is probably only in there because of his goal kicking and hes safe but if england want to get better we need players all over the field who can maybe do something abit more special or else where never gonna compete at international level! I hope wigan go no where near him because far as im concerned hes just an average winger in a good team who is good at goal kicking.

Solid enough and a good kicker, put him into an average side and you wouldn't notice him...apart from the camp hair-do!

I'll take that point seriously, although I probably shouldn't. First of all, we have two different coaches who will ask different things of his players. I know that Simmons likes to use his wingers as extra forwards, for instance, and Gardner was very good in this respect (although Makinson isn't doing too badly for a 19 year old). I don't know what Simmons asks of his wingers during a match but that will undoubtedly have an affect on his stats. Secondly, Pat is a very, very experienced winger who is how old? Old enough to have developed physically anyway! No way is it rational to compare a 20 year old who has yet to play a full season at first grade with a 30 year old (or how ever old he is) who has been playing for years. Comparing Foster to a winger at a similar stage in development is legitimate but your comparison is ridiculous. It's like comparing Lomax to Longy.
Quote: Pengy "I hope wigan go no where near him '"
I hope so too as I would really like Saints to keep hold of him. His improvement in the short space of time he has been playing has been immense. If he keeps that up then he could turn out to be a fantastic winger. He also has real potential at fullback, in terms of his skill set. Again, his physical build lets him down just now.
Incidentally, I didn't say he would make it as an international. I said he'd developed very quickly and it would be good if that continued.

| But we're not just comparing Foster to Richards, although Richards has overtaken him having played much less games.
We are comparing him to Charnley, who is younger, less experienced and has played less games this season.
Again Charnley comes out on top, apart from goalkicking.

| Personally I dont get it with Foster at all, he's a good kicker, but I havnt seen him properly beat a man yet or score any outstanding tries, just an average winger in a decent side IMO.
