I think it's John Monie with four.
Jim Sullivan will also be a close call.

Star player.
I would personally have Bevin or Boston. I like Yed's suggestion. 3 wins with 3 teams. I know this isn't the place to say it but ... Alex Murphy'"
Murphys arrogant enough without a statue....may as well build one of fat Garry.
surprised it hasnt been mentioned....Billy Mcgintie and his pineapple ring...

Yet people suggest Offiah, the biggest 'look at me' player there has ever been. Anyone remember Mike Gregorys try v the Aussies, the one in which Offiah is screaming for it and moaning in his ear the whole way when there was no need to pass just to get the glory, and now the bloke whose main intention is to bleed as much money from RL as he can get? If it was a statue of him i'd go out my way to p*ss on it every day on the way to work, he's no friend of this game no matter how good he was.

| Didn't Hanley spent some time in prison when he was young?

Tend to agree. Great try scorer though he was, Offiah was never the complete player - defence was bloody awful to begin with. TBH, there were often collective groans at his performances at CP. Great try though his Wembley one was, the Hanley one in 89 was a work of genius. You often see players beating 4 opponents with pace or strength, but very rarely will it be through balance & co-ordination alone. He somehow manages to judge the lines 4 Saints defenders are running & shifts his own line to wrong-foot all of them - they barely lay a finger on him. Saw it again recently on the 8 in a row DVD & it still takes my breath away.
Therefore I'd go for Hanley. [sizeOr Murphy[/size

It would possibly be the first horizontal statue in history, though

| Whoever the bloke was that first thought of the concept, a Rugby League Challenge Cup final to be played in the capital city. That was some sort of statement back in the day.

Seriously ? Because he came across as a **** ......... always mouthing off too opponents and refs; irritating celebrations; cocky; smug; and just had one of those faces you want to punch.

So I guess you never spoke to him?
Do you know about the time he pulled up in his car to help an elderly couple who had run out of petrol. He drove them to the garage, paid for a can of petrol for them, drove them back to the car and then followed them back to the garage to make sure they were o.k.
That's the real Shaun Edwards, not the one you don't like because he was successful.

I don't mean to be a dick but (minus the buying the petrol- unless you are high paid rugby player in a time when most were part timers; in which case it could be expected) that seems like the only decent thing to do.
and how true is this story? were you there with him during this?
I don't know the man either but...
