Quote: FIOS "Depends how many Huddersfield fans are good friends with Wigan season ticket holders? I know a few huddersfield fans who got their ticket off a Wigan season ticket holder because they were sat in front of me. Those free tickets are just one of the benefits of being a season ticket holder, part of the package and completely irrellevant to this topic, unless you want to include every other benefit season ticket holders get as well?'"

i fail to see how season ticket holders benefit from free tickets for a game when they already have a ticket for the game... the people who benefit most from freebies are non season ticket holders.

Let me get this straight, You are trying to justify Hull charging away fans upto £6 more for what is effectively the same ticket and charging more for the same food and drink for every game this season by comparing it to Wigan offering season ticket holders the opportunity to take one friend to one match for free. An obvious marketing ploy to get more of those people to return as a fully paying customer in the future. A ploy which Some Hudds fans also got in on?

I'd also like to point out that in the past when Wigan have offered reduced ticket prices for things like the big one, this has also been applicable to away fans. The Hudds game last year was the big one 3, in which 1,500 tickets in each stand (including the away end) where offered at a price of £10, and i'm pretty much sure that all the Hudds fans that came that day will have taken advantage of that offer.

I really don't see what point you are trying to make. Every club from time to time offers free tickets to either schools... younger fans... or who ever they want. That is completely different to a club blatantly charging away fans of every club more than home fans.

if you read my first question, i asked if this was a policy from hull for the whole season or a few games... that hasn't been answered yet, so my posts are based on not having that information.

although wigan fans were offered a free ticket for only one game, the away fans were not given the same offer. that is the same as hull are doing, treating home fans and away fans differently, giving preferential treatment to their home fans.

the point i'm making is that whether it be with one off offers (several of them throughout a season) or ticket prices, clubs will always put their own fans first. sure, with the big one games, away fans have been given the same discounts, but that didn't happen the first season. and although wigan fans only got a free ticket for one game, huddersfield fans only came to our ground once so why not give them the same offer?

Even as a Wire fan i could understand if Wigan charged those prices and they could probably justify it, most teams look forward to playing Wigan either out of jealously or hatred even just a mild dislike or they respect them for their rich heritage, plenty of reasons Wigan could justify having big ticket prices but Hull? All Hull have is a good stadium and up until recently a load of gobsh*te fans. Why anyone other than KR would look forward to going to watch Hull? like they are the team everyone else looks forward to seeing, nah .

They moan people don't travel, well duh are you surprised, really?

The same was true for The Big One2 with Warrington where the away fans' stand had the same first 1,500 tickets at £10 as it did for the home ones.

Hull FC the true home of rip-off Britain.

Because they get to bring a friend along to the game who might not have been before who then might enjoy it and pay to come to more games, it's called a marketing ploy, to bring more through the gates you've gotta give a little. An idea some other clubs should maybe take note of instead of driving other fans away, like Hull FC seem to be doing.

KPW I think that will Answer your question.

also, it also looks like Hull fans who turn up and pay on the day wont be charged the extra £2 as this only seems applicable to away fans.

Wigan being criticised by Hull fans for helping make a game cheaper and at the same time defending ripping people off, wow.

I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league Doom and gloom, doom and gloom:2553.gif

i just dont see the logic in putting away fans off coming to your gound? for many fans hull is one the futhest away trip they will make, its often a hell of a drag on a friday on the M62 and to then be charged more than you should???? they should be encouraging fans not discouraging!!!!

business logic like this leads to rugby clubs going bust. disgrace.

thanks for the link.

firstly, the £2 extra for away fans on the day is not right, how they can justify that i don't know.

secondly, as the cheaper tickets isn't just an early season promotion to increase numbers through the turnstyles, i can't see how they can justify a £4 difference in price. i'm not sure that anything can be done about this though, given that there is nothing to stop away fans buying tickets for the other end of the ground, and as i've said in my previous posts, clubs will always try to favour their own fans whether it be through discounts, free tickets or 'season ticket benefits'.

as i say, i don't see how season ticket holders benefit from that, it's the non season ticket holders who get the free ticket, and if they pay for tickets in the future, it's the club that benefits. i'd quite happily take a £5 or £10 cut in price of my season ticket and not be eligible for a free ticket for someone else.

This is a good point but it will be interesting to see what happens when inevitably a group of away fans buy the cheaper tickets and end up in the middle of all the hull fans.

I'm certainly not saying Hull fans and away fans wont be able to sit together and behave... but it only takes one idiot.......

Fans on here say they'd welcome it... but would stewards be just as accepting? I cant see it personally.

You're just going completely off topic about something else because you know Hull FC are in the wrong and what both Wigan and Warrington fans are saying on this thread is right.

Either that or youre trying to justify Hull FCs rip off prices with the fact that Wigan gave away a few free tickets to the super league opener. Which would be stupid and yet again completely irrellevant.

Which one is it?

I'm not going off topic at all, i've said i don't think it's right for a club to offer better deals to home fans than away fans, but also pointed out that hull are not the only club doing this. That's hardly going off topic. Also, how is it irrelevant that home fans at the Huddersfield game paid £20 less than huddersfield fans, isn't that what the topic is about, that clubs should be charging the same ticket price whether you are a home fan or an away fan?
