| Quote: Cruncher "I thought there were big question-marks against both the Lineham and Gidley tries, while the disallowed Saints try was outrageous.
I find it mind-boggling that video refs can get things wrong as often as they do.'"
I'm with you. Gidley grounded short then bounced up as he crossed the line, never grounding the ball. Lineham for me lost control of the ball whilst Peyroux appeared to cross the line with his effort.
As a separate issue I'm disappointed to see we've got Hicks again, he's a real game spoiler.

| I said that the Wakefield no try against Hull and the strangely blurry replay of the Tierney try against Wire (look at another replay from any other week and they're clear as a bell) were part of a conspiracy to firstly put more hype around the Wire-Wigan game and then to take the LLS game to Hull-Wire, keeping it interesting to the final game making "every minute matter".
But if the game had been officiated properly last night we'd have seen about a 25-6 penalty count with Saints' spoiling being penalised and Wire given more dangerous field position and probably scoring a load more points so the talking points that have materialised from this game would be very minor.

I admire the intellectual acrobatics you've performed to come up with that defence of the indefensible.
But ultimately, I don't blame Warrington. They have to take their chances, however they arise. On top of that, they were probably slightly the better side anyway, so I'm not saying it was a completely unjust result.
My real beef is with the video refs who now seem to provide us with at least one howler every week.

| I blame the system, not the video ref.
Based on the system, I probably would have made the same call. It was clear the ball was over the line but I didnt think it was 100% clear that the ball was actually on the ground.

| The Peyroux decision should signal the end of this nonsense sending it up as a try or no try rule. Half of the time the on field decision is just a guess but it ends up having so much influence on the VR's decision. If they genuinely don't know, which is the whole point of having a VR in the first place, then why do they need to make a decision/have a guess?

| Some bad decisions were made, and most went the way of Saints, but I doubt many would have been different had there been no video ref. The best side on the night won too, but that doesn't mean that they should have, it's not unusual for the best team in a game to end up losing. I'm not shocked if the accusations of a conspiracies are emanating from the redvee, I'd expect nowt else, but for me there's nought in it. I can remember something about a last minute drop goal, and slide rules and camera angles n the not so distant past.

| Bad decisions happen all the time. But they were THAT bad, you have to question the integrity of the officials. Joe Cobb should be ashamed of himself. If Wigan had been on the end of those Gidley, Lineham & Peyroux decisions - in such a massive game - everyone on here would be seething.

| If the video ref hadn't been there I doubt anyone at the ground would have batted an eyelid at all three on field try/no try decisions. What got me last night was the seemingly random decisions to go back and check for knock-ons, off-sides etc in general play.
What was all that about ?

The linesman closest to us was screaming decisions at thaler all the way through the game. Thaler seemed to be questioning himself a lot as he seemed in two minds what to give. The ruck area was terrible last night which is on his shoulders again as a lot of the time he wasn't even looking at the play the ball area, he spend a lot of the time with the back of his head to the ruck.

Gidleys try was o.k He got the ball on the line before Lomax turned him over.
I thought thre Lineham one was 50:50 as Swift deliberately slapped the ball, Peyroux should have been given as benefit of the doubt.

My biggest gripe with the game at the moment.
Video ref should ONLY be used for try or no try - not general play decisions.
Reason I say this is that at the moment it is a lottery when the video ref comes in and looks or overturns decisions.
Some time they do some times they don't - and I believe at times teams/players are going down or questioning ref, looking to break up the game, stop the game to give time for the video ref to look at a decision when it goes against them - Yet other times they don't.
If they are going to come in for EVERY decision then fair enough but we'll end up like American Football.
PS
My equal Biggest gripe is linked to this as I wouldn't have the Big Screen showing the game at the ground.
Ball gets knocked down or goes in touch and ref is Harangued by players and then walks over to linesman pretending to talk to him when we all know he's waiting for the SKY replay so he can check what he's give!
People complain about why games are taking so long - Do these 2 things above and you can bet each game would finish 10mins earlier!!!
Then we could get match reports in at decent times etc. for the press - no excuses from them then!

| It frustrated me that Stevo post game likened the Peyroux no decision to the Tierney one saying they were both clearly wrong calls.
Peyroux got that ball down 100% (well maybe 99%) whereas Tierneys call was 60/40 in our favour at worst. They showed two clear images that showed his fingers as inside the line yet Stevo clung to a blurred imagine that had stretched the ball, pitch, white lines and Tierneys hand out of all proportion as evidence that it 'clearly' should have been turned round.
The quality of the image he hung his hat on was as good as a 1970's porno on an old scotch tape he'd just found under his bed.
