| The achievements of Tyson Fury, Andy Murray and Jessica Ennis rather put those of Sinfield in the shade.
Winning the Heavyweight Championship of the World is still a great achievement, even in the days of multiple titles. Fury also has a more than interesting personality, if that counts for anything (it seems not to).
Murray is a one-off, playing in an era of great players, he's still won his share of titles.
Ennis is once again the greatest female athlete in the world after taking a few years off. So Sinny really has no chance.
However, that said, I'd have thought that Leeds would have a pretty good chance of Team of the Year.

| Well, as a rugby league fan, i will be putting my sport first, not looking for negatives, and voting for Mr Sinfield.. Who also happens to be a fellow Lancastrian.

Sinfield might well be one of the better players the sport has had, but you could just as easily say he's been very successful just hanging on to others' coat-tails. Nothing really to boast about when it comes to England (or GB), and I actually rate Peacock way higher in the Leeds pantheon.'"
You could say that if you choose to ignore that he was the captain of the side (the most successful there will probably ever be in SuperLeague, the leader, one of the major creative forces in the side, the best kicker in the game, the man who set the tone for the big games, dictated the pace of the big games and generally controlled the big games. If you ignore all that then yes, he was pretty much living off the achievements of others.

Crikey - get a room. You [ido [/iunderstand the concept of dispassionate analysis?
I'm not doing him down, just pointing out that there have been (and still are) some pretty good players at Leeds that might have a lesser (media) profile (or just not as pretty - I mean Peacock's never going to win a place in Vogue) but might deserve similar accolades. For example, much as I hate the little ferret, Burrow because he's bl**dy difficult to stop, does he not merit equal praise?

He was the leader, the game manager, the tactician; the other players did essentially what he said and ran the game to the tempo he set. He was by some distance the biggest single factor in Leeds winning anything and everything over the past 12 years.

He definitely was and any player who was involved in Leeds' successes says as much. Most players being named captain basically means a 'C' next to your name on the team sheet and means you're the one who speaks to the ref. Sinfield as captain it was so much much more than that but you really have to look closely at games to see it as it isn't blinding in your face as a Rangi Chase magic pass for example. One poster says Sinfield possibly hung onto the coat-tails of other players.....I say those players wouldn't have been anywhere as good had they not had him as their captain and leading the team they were in. Who left Leeds during Sinfield's era and was just as good (or better) a player elsewhere? Perhaps only Gareth Ellis.

| I'm amazed by some of the support shown by some of our fans towards Sinfield
Although I'm not too surprised by some of the Sinfield knockers on here TBH
I wish that we had signed him all those years ago and i certainly believe that he could have led our club to equal or even greater success than he achieved at Leeds
Fantastic player, probably the best ever leader of a RL side that this country has ever seen and he is also a cracking person too whilst i have been in his company

| Please vote for Kevin Sinfield, make history, and vote for OUR sport. We don't get enough media coverage, this is our chance...
You can vote for FREE once online - You will need to register for a online BBC Account.
You can [icall[/i as many times as you like - the number will be made available on the night of the awards.
#BuyKevAPint - Buy Kevin Sinfield a Pint for SPOTY Success, If everyone in RL spends just £3, the cost of a pint, on 20 phone votes for him on Sunday night he will likely win SPOTY.
If you don't vote, RL will be left behind again. Lets make a stand for our sport and an RL legend. We might never have the same chance again.
#Kev4SPOTY - Please put club loyalties aside for this one and lets show the other sports what the RL Family can do.
Thanks.

| Have we actually looked at KS's achievements in the sport? The all time SL appearances, stupidly high on the points scores on SL, Leeds' and RL's charts, etc., etc., etc...
I think, in his favour, the fact that he's massively over-achieved at every step of his career is another great achievement. He's not the biggest, quickest, strongest, etc., etc., but by 'eck he's one hell of a role model, for any sport! If we could bottle a consumate pro, KS would be it. I'd have no qualms voting for him as SPOTY!

| He's got my vote. Will certainly go down as an RL legend - whatever people think of his abilities - and as has already been mentioned, he's a Lancashire lad. Pick up the phone and vote for our sport.

| Sinfield is a very good club man but is not a great player.
That is quite important in my view because to transcend club loyalties and earn the votes of fans of other clubs he'd have to be a great player not just for Leeds but for England. He hasn't been the latter.
Fans will put club loyalty aside for a great player but not for a very good club player.
His performances for England have been average at best. Great players rise to the challenge, Sinfield wasn't up to it.
Contrast that with how Lockers goes at International level. He looks even better than when he plays for Wigan. And no I am not saying Lockers should be nominated but merely using him as an example as to why Sinfield simply isn't good enough for a vote.
I don't think it is fans not voting for him shooting RL in the foot either. Voting for someone you genuinely don't think is a great player is hypocritical and if he did win then it would in my view be a hollow victory and one easily questioned.
The wrong player got nominated (Peacock maybe?) but saying that I don't think we have any truly great players in the game at the moment [iplying their trade in SL[/i. If Hanley were playing now I'd say he'd be a shoe for votes from fans from across all clubs but Sinfield? Nope.
I think they should have stopped with nominating Leeds for team for the year.

| Voted twice (the missus email address comes in handy sometimes).
It would have been great to see him win it but 2nd is no shame.
Good end to a great career.
