And thats why you don't coach an SL team...
No-one will try harder, or be more aware of last year... He has a point to prove, and team mates to pay back... IF we get there, it's more likely one of the opponents will be in trouble for having an early dig.

| I don't care if he gets a ban. It was good to see the Wigan pack stand up against the two houses Sim and Westwood. I'll guarantee that Wane showed them the cowardly attack by Sim on young halfback (Williams) in the last game we played there. That night Wigans pack were timid, they weren't last night. I guess Sim will get another ban for the "stamp" and again we didn't even get a penalty!!

Or he could do the same thing and screw us over again. You can't predict that.
Anyway, agree with Rogues about us being aggressive. I've never seen Mossop as fired up as the 5 minutes after Sims stamped on him. Maybe someone should stamp on his hand every time he comes onto the field.

Well, i gave you my reasons why i think it's unlikely, of course it could happen again... I was just responding to your negative view by offering a balance view.

The supposed incident is a total non event that when watched in full speed hardly even registers in your mind as being anything more then what goes on in every rugby league game.
If he cops a ban for that then his career is done.'"
Stevo for many years has been making snide comments about Wigan and targeting players for his negative comments? Newton, Hock, McIllorum and now Flower. While they are not saints the do not deserve what Stevo dishes out.
Look at other clubs; do McGuire, Chase, Hardacre and Westwood get the same level of vindictive comments despite their on and off field antics?

He was commentating at a Wigan game as the salary cap came in, and said it was good because "We have to find a way to stop this lot", and looked over his shoulder at Wigan.

I was more saddened by the fact that this was on Sky Sports News. I can understand rugby league people having certain bias but that was just cheap last night. I'd be appalled if I was within the club.

| It certainly irked me.
Did anyone else hear them rhyming off how many injuries Wire had? The fact we had three starting backs + McIlorum out wasn't even mentioned

| This was always going to happen though. As soon as Flower got into even a minor scuffle the media were going to pick up on it following the incident in last years Grand Final. He didn't really need to get involve and did go in with a clenched fist. But it was nothing really.
As I say, when the incident in last years final happened, then both Flower and Wigan would be subject to greater media scrutiny, and that's something that has to be accepted.
The real talking point was the Ashton Sims stamp, which was vindictive and cowardly and should result in a big ban.

| Not clear for me whether he actually stood on Mossops hand, but there is clear intent, IMO.

Mossop's hand recoiled from the pain, definitely caught his hand with the stamp.

| If sky want to highlight incidents they should show the Pomeroy tackle, one of the worst tackles I've seen. He could have broken the Cas players neck.
Also look at the Leigh game and the blatant con job by Lee Smith, diving to the ground holding his head most people would be embarrassed to look back at the VT of that incident, Smith will probably do it again.

Haha cracked me up that. He reeled off a list of fringe players, including the likes of Patton and O'Brian who aren't in because they've brought Sandow in. We had 5 out who would be in our first choice 17 (Burgess, Sarg, Gelling, McIlorum and Tautai) including 3 England internationals, plus we had a kid on debut!
With regards to the Flower incident there was absolutely nothing in it and it's a joke that he's had to come out and explain what he was doing. I went to the on rugby league section of the on demand bit on the sky box the other day and last year's GF is still there with the picture of Flower over Hohaia!

| Beyond a joke by a long way now, other players have done far worse things than Ben did last year and got away with it and ok what he did do was stupid but he has paid the price and it's time to move on. Oscar Pistorius gets a better press than Ben Flower
The general commentary from Stevo in particular was painful on Friday so a short time into the recording I just turned the sound off as his opinions on the rules just got very boring very quickly. When do they both retire? Although we'll then probably have to endure Carney

The level of delusion in Wigan over Danny McGuire never ceases to amaze. Perhaps the most generous in the league with his charity work off field and one of the most respected professionals on it from players of all clubs. To line him up with Flower, Hardaker, Chase etc is embarrassing
On topic, Flower committed the lost notorious British RL foul of the Super League era, taking the honour from Mick Cassidy. The sport has been remarkable in the support it has given him but you, and he, cannot expect him to be able to fly under the radar of the wider sports media in the same way as other players.
