I'd not considered that to be honest, but it's a very good point. Has anyone seen him about? Does he look like a man who has been working hard, or like he's spent a year and a half propping up a bar?

Leave him well alone. He loved playing for Wigan and i'm convinced it meant more to him then playing for any of his other clubs but he still didn't love it enough to behave himself.

If he was 25/26 i'd consider it as he'd have time to grow up but he's too old now.

Hello all, this is my first post on this forum but I read it regularly. It's not the most important contribution but I had a fairly lengthy chat with Gleeson, at the cinema, a few months back. I was very surprised at the shape he was in (all things considered) but he did say that he'd been training very hard and was still involved in rugby. Lovely chap too FWIW.

It must be hard to be fair... Whether this will sit well with any of you or not, I understand addiction and the stupid need to party hard... often.

I had a drink and drug problem for years (still do to some extent, but within the law these days) I'm just a normal bloke and it was incredibly difficult to stay away and get clean. I don't think I would have managed it if I was a professional sportsman with all the wrong and incidently right people knowing who I am and blowing smoke up my proverbial.

Like I said, if he has managed to clean up his act, although too much of a risk to a club like ours, would be nice to see him go out with his head held high somewhere else maybe on a one year contract.

I have no doubts he is good enough if fit enough and TBH I'd be surprised if one of the lower teams in the league didn't make a move for him. From what I remember though, he became very disillusioned with the RFL after the way they handled his disciplinary that led to his last ban so he might be put off about coming back. There certainly wouldn't be a place for him at Wigan should he choose to.

If he can't get a team and we offered him a lifeline on the right money (for Wigan not him) I can see him coming for a year if he's desperate he may do well and he MUST have learned his lesson now.

Gleeson is his own worst enemy. Whichever club is he has been at, with the exception of Huddersfield, he has always left under a cloud.

In tonights Manchester Evening News it is reported that Gleeson has signed a 2 year deal with Salford as a replacement for Joel Moon who has joined Leeds.

His signing will not be announced officially until the proposed takeover of the club by Peel Holdings is completed.

Hes a superb player, easily in the top 5 british centres Ive seen in my life (only 23 btw) so he needs to be playing while he still can.

Thing is why isnt there as much as a kick off about it as there was Hock? Gleeson was actually a drugs CHEAT Hock was taking recreational drugs that wouldve been detrimental to his play.
