Dont be pulled in by whats known as the 'alan hunte' syndrome.

Can't really argue with 20 tries for a centre, its not like an average winger just taking credit for the hard work of the people inside.
His attacking play has been brilliant. You are right he is not the best I have ever seen in defence, but this is a DREAM team not who has missed the least tackles contest. Yeamon is also in with a shout, I couldn't seperate them so I just went with the top try scorer.

I call it the "Super League' syndrome. People forget that 50% of the game is defence, wax lyrical about those players and teams that score loads of tries and denigrate those who pride themselves on a tough defence, and then wonder what went wrong when we play Australia or NZ.

| well, i used to ing hate alan hunte when we signed him, he got a wedge and yeah, scored tries but wa sa lazy ing er, we ended up putting him at fullback prior to dvdv leaving 01, the amount of tries he could've stopped was ridiculous, he didn't put the effort in and then after the ball is down, would do this "ooh" and dive at them as if to say, i almost got here, as the player was getting up.

Agreed, but put him at a good club with an emphasis on defence and you could potentially have a top class centre, a good coach could work wonders for him and his game.

| 1. B.Hodgson (better reader of the game than Tomkins, leading point scorer in SL)
2. J. Monaghan
3. Bridge
4. King
We simply have the best backs in SL hence our huge points difference
5. Richards
6. Briers
7. Dureau
8. Graham
9. M.Monaghan (only real difficult choice, two different games comparing him to Roby, but i'd rather watch expansive rugby than scoot rugby)
10. Carvell
11. Westwood
12. Luke O'Donnell
13. O'Loughlin

| Sigh. I can already see this turning into a "Wire players are better than everyone elses", "No they're not", "Bitch, bitch, bitch", "Moan, moan, moan", etc.

Briers in front of Chase?
Not going to argue about Wigan/Wire players as we'll never agree, but Chase has been outstanding this year.

8 out of 13 players from the team which is not top of the league! You must be joking.
Brett is a class player but Tomkins is so much more talented. Hodgeson links well but he is no where near as dangerous as Tomkins.
Bridge is in with a shout, he has played well but he is not as good as Carmont is he.
Briers before Chase
If you think Roby has been all about scooting then you need to watch a little bit more of saints. Roby is the reason Saints are where they are. Without him they would be struggling to make the 8.
Can't believe how biased this post is.
