| He's always had a good strike ratio to be fair to him. I'd like him to maybe be given another crack at the centre position.

Maybe when George retires. I'm happy for him to be in out on the wing now though. Nobody in the current setup I'd rather have there.

He's too greedy to be a centre.

He was too greedy to be a centre maybe? Madge has turned him into a winger, plus a few years with Gleese and George cant have done him bad.
At the moment though, give him number 2 and let him get another 30 tries next year.

| Quote: DaveO "from the above this bit is the significant bit IMO
I think it is fairly well known that Goulding was treated appallingly by Noble and was often made the scapegoat instead of more established players. He was treated that bad that a born and bred Wigan lad was desperate to leave the club and if it wasnt for Lenegan refusing to let him go then he would now be playing for Leeds or Warrington. Goulding is not the only player either that would have left if Noble had been given a new contract.
People tend to forget that he is still only 22 and I can certainly see him taking over from Carmont at centre. He has played there a couple of times this year and has had cracking games in both matches. The bulk of his games at centre in the past have come as a teenager in the poorest Wigan sides that I have seen, when he was in and out of the side like a yo yo. I have seen him coming through the ranks and he was always a stand out at centre, representing England there at every underage level. He certainly isnt a greedy player and is certainly no worse than the likes of Gleeson, Yeaman, Senior etc.

I think one of the most impressive things about the lad this season was his attitude. He wasn't selected every week, but he always stuck with it and took the next chance that came along, doing everything asked of him.
That's a pro.

| I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised to see him turn out at centre for England in a few games. With Cudjoe and Hall in the side I think Darrell would be brilliant at centre.
As for the next few years at Wigan though, give him the #2 until Carmont packs in.

| I seem to find myself agreeing with 'Famous' all the time! Darrell has never been a greedy player, and whether he plays centre or winger, he plays very well. He has rightly deserved his place to play for England, he did well this morning against New Zeland and i hope that he gets a few more games, so that he can show his full potential. He has been outstanding this season, and i hope he gets the chance to do the same again next season.

Serious question: Near enough all of your posts are about him and you've just ressurected threads about him, are you related to him? If not, whats the obsession?

| Would love to see him get a run in the centres England are crying out for someone!
Love the arrogance/confidence that he showed this morning with a simple wink to the camera as it went down the line as the National Anthem was being sung, far to many around him looked nervous and agitated, we need more with that sort of attitude at international level!

| No i'm not realted to him, he is my favourite player and rightly so. I will post on whatever i feel needs posting on, as i'm sure you do. I don't feel that he got the praise that he deserves, but now it is showing because of the season that he has had, everyone is starting to realise it.

| Goulding looks like he's got a bag full of confidence.
I do think Wigan will use the 2 shirt for younger players coming though as Goulding has shown how this can benefit the club and the player.
He is now twice the player he was and this is due to being in a very successful squad. No doubt he'll be tried at 4 if Carmont picks up an injury and he must take his chance from there.
I'd prefer him at centre for Engalnd if Shenton is out as Club I don't think is good enough and Cudjoe is better on the wing.
Being selected at centre though might turn out to be a poisoned chalice.
With Goulding, Charnley and Marsh around, the club need not look anywhere else for threequarters for some years to come. From what hs been said on here there are some very good lads behind those three.
