| I think the majority of the people who sit in the East Stand are against the drum, and majority of people who sit in the South Stand are for the drum. So why cant the East Stand keep to clapping and South Stand have one drum and use that. Simples.
For away games, toss a coin.

How loud is that going to be? Easier to carry, though.

| Go watching Man Utd away from Old Trafford (not my team so I'm not biased).
The best fans in terms of noise and NO drum...
(Don't come this crap about Portsmouth/Newcastle etc fans for best fans)

Do I mind them? In moderation, no.
As ABP' says, we probably could manage with one drum and one decent drummer who knows when and how to play* it.
[size*Do you play a drum or bang it? I'm not sure[/size'"
A decent drummer would play the drum. The boozed-up ankle-biters in the South Stand, however, just seem to just whack their drum as hard as they can whenever they feel like it

| One drum in the east and south stands should be ok as long as the people with the drum actually know how to play it and can keep time. Using it to strike up a chant helps the atmosphere.
I sit in the east stand and without a drum the atmosphere is very flat, it's pretty much silent all game. With a drum used in moderation the fans generally get behind it and it sounds much better.
However during the Widnes away game I was sat in one of the corners and the drumming was a appalling. A mildly intelligent ape could have been handed the drum despite never seeing one before and would have worked out how to make a better sound within 5 minutes.
Constantly whacking the drum over and over again to a repetitive chant is annoying, dull and does nothing for the atmosphere but as long as someone knows how to use the drum then it can really help.

| I reckon the club should allocate one drummer and have them as the only drummer. It has been proved time and time again when we've had no drum that we can create an atmosphere.

| For home games we need one in each stand both being people who can play them. The atmosphere will never be good at home anyway!
Away games I don't mind.

| Use one, played by someone who knows how to. Use it to get a song/chant/wahtever going then pack it in. Once something is going theres no need to keep banging it.
The one at Widnes annoyed me, constant drone, I nearly shoved it up his .

| Don't panic.
So long as he brings TWO decent sticks I'll have a few giraffes in France and come out of retirment to show them how it's done Properly!
It's the fact that there are
a. Too many
b. They can't play them
that is the problem more than anything else.
Now and again and it gets people going, the constant thump thu
p thump just gets on everyone nerves.
What amazes me is how you can have a drum for ages yet never ever improve?
