IMO we missed Roberts the most. Phelps impressed me earlier on in the season and i thoguht we would be ok with him but he had a bad game today, but it was his first game back so will give him the benefit of the doubt.'"
Agreed. The pack did fine - we were making easy yards in attack and not conceding anything (except penalties!) in defence.

Yes we did miss him today. Fieldens workrate and tackling is missed and undervalued by some people. His whole game is massively improved this year and even in previous seasons his defence has never been in question for me.
It would of been better to see him play today but probably in Madges eyes needed a rest. Today again he would of got through alot of work and stopped Phil Leuluai offloading for fun in the second half.

| This is getting very boring now. Riddell, Roberts and now Fielden.
We missed Amos Roberts and Thomas Leuluai today. Our attack was quite slow compared to the Wakefield game. Cameron Phelps was all at sea today IMO. Gave some awful balls to Darrell Goulding and was in the wrong place a lot in attack. Put his hand up a few times accepting that he was out of place. A bit rusty, but I will cut him some slack because he has missed a few games.

| I thought Phelps was trying too hard.
It was right to rest Fielden. Salford played better than I expected, they tackled well and it was two exceptional tries by Pat that sank them.
Over all, no I don't think we missed Fielden insomuch that we coped. He is playing well now and seems to have had a new lease of life under Madge.

I fully agree.
It’s getting beyond tedious is some of the preaching by a select few posters.
It doesn’t make sense as well. No one is saying they aren’t playing well this season so why do they keep making threads about them?
Maybe it’s cause they are in cloud cuckoo land and actually think many of the above were doing enough for the team last year?

I'd agree. I've criticised Tommy in the past but thought we missed him a lot today - not just his step in attack but defensively also (as an aside thought Sam had a great game in defence today).
Goulding deserves some credit for not going into touch more often - he got some poor passes today.
I also thought Phelps was poor by his own standards - both in attack and his positional play in defence. Let's hope he improves with a couple more games under his belt.

Agreed.
I would draw a line under last season - Brian Noble included - and agree to disagree.
Everyone has been full of praise for Roberts, Riddell and Fielden this season.

I agree. We definitely missed Tommy's defending. Paul Deacon is not a great defender. He missed two tackles in the build up to Salford's only try. I thought Madge had taken him off because of this, but I'm hearing he might have picked up an injury. His kicking game was pretty good today though.

Exactly mate.
Everyone is happy with the way they've played this season and this season is all that matters as far as I’m concerned
As much as some would like to they can't re write history and have us believe all the above were playing as well last season as they are this.
Agree to disagree as you say.

deacon picked a foot injury up shortly after putting in a kick on the 5th tackle.

I haven't seen a "I told you it was wrong not to renew Noble's contract" or a "I told you we should have signed Ryan McGoldrick at fullback" threads.
Can't think why?

He was limping by then.
Before he got injured he put in several good, first time tackles.
The Salford try was lucky, that kick was going dead before it was touched. By Micky Mac I think but I'm not 100% certain.
