| Quote: Durham Giant "You are right about inconsistenCy in my view there are not enough sendings off for dangerous play. I have less problem with players brawling than i do with dangerous attacks on players who are in no position to defend themselves ie Lima and Laffranchi last night. Perry should have had at least a yellow and maybe more.
But just because the ref misses one thing you cannot use it to defend another.
If McIlorum had ben standing a toe to toe with Perry and having a fight, fine 10 minutes in the bin to cool them down But the shot on lafranchi was just cold AND DANGEROUS AGAINST A PLAYER WHO WAS COMPLTEELY UNPREPARED.'"
I started my post by saying "straight red", not defending him at all.

| Quote: 21-12 "Idiot. Blessing in disguise for Wigan this, Tommy at 9, Smith 7 Finch 6. Far more creativity in attack. We are ridicukously predictable in attack, 2 dummy runners, Sam loops round the back. If that doesn't work we turn it back inside to Lima/Mossop. Poor, poor coaching.
On another note, Darrell Goulding, hang your head in shame, absoulutely ruined by Josh Jones for 80 minutes, it was cringeworthy to watch from a so called "international"
Warrington will win the Grand Final simply because they have the best coach, Wane is vastly overrated and has merely inherited a good side that Maguire did all the groundwork for.'"
They have had the "best coach" last few years and never won a gf???
Micky Mc has been one of our most consistent performers this year but does have this stupid side in him much like Hock, they can either win you a game or cost you it at times. Last night was a brain explosion and a cowardly act,

I think Micheal Maguire would disagree with that. Last season was a strange season and a complete one off, Warrington will do the double this season.

| TBH, by definition it was red, but in a derby game with emotions running high, close match etc, yellow card would have been more suitable in my eyes. I would hope a more experienced ref would have done that.
Also, it goes out the window when other stuff gets let off. Perry on Lima was late, it was deliberate, it was high.
Therefore it should have been red if he was going to be consistant.
Anyone who watched the Wakefield v Widnes match that Child was in charge off would have seen the ridiculous red card for Paddy Flynn (I think) that cost Widnes the game in my eyes. I'm not saying the incidents are the same, but the OTT reaction was, and it cost sides games.
If that is the future of the officials, looking at some incidents with red eyes, then not bothering with others after handing out a massive advantage then the game will degrade.
I'm not saying what MCM did was right, it was late, but if they are gonna be like that, maybe its time to change the card system to something different. Red Card = 10 mins x amount of yellow cards = ban.
Otherwise for every silly moment sides are going lose a match.
IMO Child should never have been let near a derby match like that. He hasnt got the experience or the cool.

| Typical of Wigan fans when their successful team gets beat, blaming everyone apart from their players who missed some godawful one on one tackles for Saints's tries. MMc is an average flat track bully who has nothing but aggression on his side. He is not on the same planet, never mind league, as Tommy as a hooker. You will be better off without him with Smith at 7, though Tommy is still way off match fit. I thought Child had an excellent game. The O'brotherinlaw & Perry incidents were penalties, end of. There is now a culture of trying to outdo each other with hysteria around decisions, not just in RL but in life. OMG.

Late, stiff arm to the head with the player not looking...
They don't happen by accident.
Very naughty.

| I spoke to someone after the game who said that if the refereeing doesn’t improve they would seriously consider whether or not to renew their season ticket for next year, he said it seems that Wigan players are being single out for rough justice. I don’t think he was just speaking about last night’s game, but the season as a whole. He does have a point though; there have been some baffling incongruities in some refereeing decisions , when one player (MM. Bradford) gets a straight red for one so called punch, and another Paul wood gets to stay on, he does have a bit of a point. I have said earlier on in this thread what about Perry’s action on Lima in the second half? Not even a yellow. A bad refereeing decision can ruin a spectacle for an awful lot of people. I’m not saying the red last night was wrong, but on seeing it again it may have been harsh in comparison to other incidents. Why are there no yellow cards for Wigan anymore? They always seem to be RED!

Alright then, us losing the game had nothing to do with having 12 men for 60 minutes, it was because we missed some 1 on 1 tackles. Give me a break!

Typical of fans from other clubs saying its typical of Wigans fans, when it's quite clearly not typical...

Agree with most of that, I couldn't have argued against Perry picking up a yellow as the contact was a bit dodgy.

The attempts by some people to paint this as some kind of witch-hunt against Wigan is pathetic.

| Quote: DaveO "I am basing my comments on what I saw at the game which since that is all I have seen seems fair enough to me. Lockers as I have often said on here is far too shy compared to Sinfield or Briers so to see him blow a gasket is way out of character.
I find it interesting though that you ignore the points I made about sending offs in general. You know that all those saying "It was definitely a sending off" have never disagreed with such a decision themselves in the face of others saying it was. From [iwhat I saw at the game[/i it was one of those that might get a red a yellow or nothing. It's yet another incident that makes the case for video refs at all games or at none because I am convinced it was Ganson watching it in slow motion (as no doubt you did on the replays) who made the decision.'"
Child saw it and was giving the penalty from the second it happened.
Once play had stopped it was Ganson who advised him it was a red.
For the last 4 months I've been telling the lad I sit next to that MM's nhits on the player off loading the ball were going to come back and haunt us.
The difference with those and what happened last night was that usually he hits them with the shoulder or pushes with the hands, last night he hit him with a swinging arm.
The second it happened I said Red Card
Watching it again I've not changed my mind as it was reckless
Only Tiny bit of mitigation IMO is that he did swing and it defelcted off the shoulder although that's still reckless in my book.

I remember someone saying we had no chance at Saints Good Friday and would get beat by 18+
Write your teams chances off and if it happens you can say I told you so, if it doesnt no-one remembers? Good Tactic
I don't remember there being much concern about Wane's coaching from April through to begining of July?
