| I think we'll see Rhodri Lloyd break through into the first team next season, possibly ahead of Chris Tuson which when coupled with Faz/Hughes who are ahead of him in the pecking order then I really wouldn't begrudge him moving to Hull KR.

I can't see how he'd be ahead of Farrell. I mean if he was better than Farrell he'd get more game time, but he doesn't. When both are on the bench it's Farrell who plays more minutes.

No disrespect to them, but we'd need a somebody a bit more developed. Possibly from elsewhere as well as rather than instead off, but if it were to make any significant difference to the fee, I can't see much of a point.

| Would be really happy if we do get Taylor. Regarding the player swap I can't really think of anyone we'd be willing to let go permanent really apart from poss Crosby or Spener due to having so many young props. However we have plenty of players who would really benefit from a full year on loan, the likes of ... Crosby, Spencer, Murphy, Russell, King, Burke or even Lloyd.

Don't think any of those would especially benefit us, certainly not to the point of it sweetening a deal. A stop-gap like Charnley in 2010 or Russell going to Hull this year is okay, but that is a bit too farm team.

I wouldn't say Hughes was above him. Hughes wasn't getting in the side when Tuse was fit for a start and that's before the possibility of him being turned into a centre.

| Tuson is Wigans 4th choice second row after Hock, Hansen and Farrell but he's definitely ahead of Hughes and Lloyd.
I believe those last 2 could push up ahead of Tuson and Farrell within a year or two though because they have a huge advantage size wise. They both need to fill out but will be massive when they do.

We're coming to make some noise!: |
|
| When you are getting a player of Scott Taylors talent and quality I think whoever you release in the other direction would be acceptable (not including the likes of Tomkins).
Wouldn't be surprised if we take an outside back as that is an area we are weak in. I believe Craig Hall is going to have our No.1 jersey next season but it may be that we get Russell as a swap deal giving us the option to use Travis Burns at hooker, Hall at 6 and Russell at full back. I'd be happy with that swap as I feel Beaumont, Griffin, James Green, Tuimavave, Paea, Lovegrove, Mika, Netherton, Paterson, Peterson and possibly Aaron Ollett can all fit in to the pack and replace Taylor while we have no natural replacement at full back.

Although I would be disappointed to see Russell go, he does seem the most obvious player that we would send.
I hope it would be on loan for a year, but if he is being used as part of the deal sadly from a Wigan point of view I would expect it to be a permanent deal.
Realistically Russell will not got a shot at the 1 shirt till Sam leaves (probably in 2 years), maybe a 2 year deal to Hull KR and a word in his ear that if he performs we will bring him back, if he wants, but then I guess it depends on how he would potentially go and grow as a player at Hull KR and his afection/loyalty to the club.

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

Definitely? I think King has done the right thing. Can't keep waiting much longer, the fact Gelling was chosen over him must have made him aware that he wasn't gonna feature. Its a shame because he does have a lot of talent just unfortunately with Pat and Charnley, we are gonna be set for wingers for the next year or so. Also Joe Burgess is doing well in the 20s/18s and looks a more natural choice for replacing Pat with his size and speed

Waney likes big guys and unfortunately King and Russell don't fall into that category both are however very good rugby players and will do well with another SL club. I hope that these decisions don't come back and bite us.
Burgess is a natural and will be fast-tracked into the first team along with Williams and Hampshire (2-3 years), he may however end up playing centre in years to come.

I think the biggest problem King had is that when there was a chance for him to fill in for Richards his form wasn't very good. Even with Gelling being a bit lost on the wing at times he fit the teams style of play well, he was a real hard worker and he had the chance to get first team games outside the player he will be trying to replace.
I think he'll have something to offer at Super League level but with the chances to academy rugby the club can't really keep hold of all of the players over the age of 19 that haven't yet had much of an opportunity. I imagine it's more difficult to loan wingers out too since there's quite a few wingers knocking about and many different players who could fill in there.
