Considered it but SOL missed a lot of time with injury. Also under we’ve had a few bad years under Lockers.
Have saints every missed the playoffs with Roby?
Roby edges it for me.

| As much as I wouldn’t want to admit it, Roby has had a better career than Lockers. No shame in that because I agree that Roby is the best pound for pound player of the Superleague era, so that means he’s also had a better career than Farrell, Sculthorpe, Fielden, Cunningham, Long, Sinfield, Maguire and so on.
Roby just covers every single base. Quality, team player, individual threat, durable, longevity, an ability to reinvent himself, successful and a great ambassador. Many others cover most of those but Roby has done it over a freakish amount of time.

| Quote: NickyKiss "What a player he’s been. There isn’t anybody across the whole game who would say a bad word about him. He’s the sort of character that will be sat in his local when he’s 60 years old and people will tell the youngsters that he is one of the best players of all time and they won’t believe it. The very best players roll with the punches that injuries and age being and adapt their game. He has been one of those and you can have nothing but respect for him.'"
Its interesting to hear Wigan fans views on this. I remember having a discussion with my mate at Wigan a couple of years ago about who was better- Cunningham or Roby. I said Cunningham purely because he changed his game from a marauding powerful runner in his early days to then more of a brilliant distributor, always choosing the right pass and hitting like a prop in defence.
However my mate said Roby due to his increased longevity and leading Saints through quite a few barren years (2008-14) and then 2015-18 whilst maintaining his levels. You can probably also argue that for the majority of his career Cunningham played in better Saints teams.

I just think the longevity takes him above everyone for me. He’s done it in great sides, he’s done it as a individual threat with pace, as a player whose lost pace but found more guile and creativity, he’s carried poor sides and he’s had an indian summer leading another fantastic side. He’s won every honour you can win, from both an individual and team perspective and he’s won the WCC as a captain down under. I thought Cunningham was an amazing player but his unwillingness to turn out for GB knocks him down the list for me. He also didn’t do it over as long a period as Roby.

Roby had barren years aswell, but for me SOL had a better all round game, never saw Roby nail a pass left to right to Sarge at pace like SOL did,his skill set was higher than Roby but in no means I am denigrating Roby fantastic player but not quite as good as Lockers.

4th best loose forward of the SL era IMO
Great captain, great goal kicker but overrated as a player.

| Sinfield was the glue that held that great Leeds side together but as an individual player, I don’t think he’d be in my top 15-20 from the Superleague era.

| I think what this season is showing so far is that despite the open nature of it, the quality is low. Warrington looked to be the real deal this season early on then were comfortably beaten by Wigan and then Saints with a number of players missing.
Wigan then looked to be the team to beat and they have since had a couple of defeats on the bounce and that capitulation against Leeds.
Meanwhile we have been largely poor all season bar the Warrington game yet we win our game in hand and we are only 2 points behind Wigan.
We only had to lift our intensity in the second half on Saturday and Salford went to pieces. I still say that Salford are the best side in the comp attacking wise when they throw it about but they folded on Saturday when put under pressure.
Catalan look really good in patches too but are still largely inconsistent. And as for Leeds well no-one knows how they are going to play from one week to the next.

| Even though it's true that Salford fell apart in that second half it was helped along more than a little by some utterly bizarre refereeing decisions. How you kept 13 men on the field in the current climate is completely unfathomable. Worse still, the referee insisting the downed Salford player leave the field after being blindsided by a cowardly attack from Lees and then awarding a 6 again as Salford tried to regroup from his error. Wow...just wow! The man is a buffoon!
As to Lees and his latest "indiscretion", words fail me. He won't be happy until he puts someone out for the season. Oh, wait a minute...

I thought it was just Saints fans that had an issue with Kendall?
Ridiculous to say that the broken ankle is a result of the swinging arm, thats just bad luck. Seconds before Lees drops the ball that leads to his swinging arm, Ritson is hit high and Saints get the penalty. Direct contact to the head but no Salford player is up before the MRP.
Every time someone is guilty of a high shot, if the opponent falls as a result then are they all at risk of breaking an ankle? Wright has just had bad luck in this instance but how that can be linked to a direct result of his tackle is a joke.
Sironen's late hit was described by Kendall in his chat with Roby as 50/50. He was fully committed yet is hit by a 1 game ban. I don't believe that there are no other similar hits in any other SL game.
