I’ve got a few points on this Gleeson situation;

Firstly I'm more than confident that we've got enough talented players to hold out until the end of the season but i'm basing this on having Amos, Pat and Finch all playing in the side. It’s so much easier for a young player having Finch in at HB and Pat on the wing next to them.

2nd is more of a told you so in that we should have signed Shenton last year. A Quality, young, British and model professional player was available and we’ve missed out massively there. This time last season people were talking about Gleeson being here for the foreseeable future and Thornley’s potential talent as well. It goes to show that you can never count you chickens and when quality players are available you need to snap them up.

3rd for next season if we look set to lose both Gleeson and Carmont we need to splash the cash and bring over some real quality. I’d be happy with King from Wire but other than that Reddy would be an outstanding signing. Lets hope the Dragons do a storm and we can bring Gasnier over lol

Quote: post "I would like to think we havent sacked Gleeson in the hope of using him as a bargaining chip with Hull FC to bring Tom Briscoe over along with cash providng he wants to come to a big club chasing trophies plus he has Yeaman in front of him at left centre at Hull for a while yet he could have the left centre spot next year when Carmont goes, he can cover rigth centre in the mean time. This would fit in with IL policy of bringing in top talent and splashing the cash if needs be. Briscoe one of the very few quality British backs out there.

The lord has spoken!'"

MASSIVLY overrated imo. Doesn’t have the pace to be a flying winger and doesn’t have the size to be a physical presence like Pat, Monaghan etc.

Jodie Broughton on the other hand could be IL’s new flying winger.

If we wanted someone who bags a load of tries but can't defend we could have stuck with Sean Ainscough

I agree with this. Thought we should've been in for him too.

I think Darrell Goulding has proved that we dont really need to sign any wingers from anywhere else unless its someone of the highest quality with unbelievable skill eg Pat Richards or Brett Morris. As long as we get the balance right elsewhere in the squad we can promote wingers from within and they will score bag fulls of trys.

Tom Briscoe is faster than anything we have at Wigan, and faster than Broughton.

I was on about Briscoe as a centre, could fill in for Pat or right cntre until next year, goal line defence is awesome as is his ability to stay in the field of play when scoring tries in the corner, I would put Charnley right centre as of next year with Marsh outside of him, I dont rate Goulding.

Personally I would say Roberts is quicker. It doesn't matter anyway, we don't need a winger, we currently have 5 of them. If we are going to bring someone in it needs to be a top class centre with some good experience, not a winger.

If we needed a winger then Briscoe would be one of my picks although I would worry about his lack of height and strength on the wing in the Modern game. Like it or not all the best wingers in the world right now either have good size on them.

Are you the idiot in the South Stand that keeps saying "I hate goulding me" ?

I sit in the East but my brother sits in the South with his school mates and he tells me about this guy near them that everytime Goulding gets the ball (even when he scores a try!) he says "I bloody hate Goulding me"

how when he was one of the best players last season, and one of the top try scorers. Goulding is a quality player, let down by a ball greedy gleeson, and a poor defensive player in joel.

in fact its joel i dont rate.

It's surely difficult to accuse a centre of being ball-greedy when his wingman scored so many tries last season?

You think so? Its those players that make Goulding look quality. If Gleeson does leave, you will realise this.
