| If Crosby gets a ban then maybe we will send Stu down to Wales this weekend?

The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.: |

| Really pleased to see he played.
He has been, arguably, the best prop in the world. I am still of the opinion that you do not "lose it" overnight.
A massive boost if he could play a part in our end season.

| Quote: Cherry.Pie "Played 20 minutes of the first half, ran the ball very well, tackled well in defence, looked like a player well above that level as you'd expected. Got tired very quickly. Came back on for the last 20 minutes or so and gave more of the same and looked eager to get involved.
He was the 2nd best prop out there after Prescott but they were both head and shoulders above the other forwards and the biggest difference between the two sides (along with Anthony 'Greg Inglis' Gelling'). With a few props looking likely to miss out he could make the bench against Salford.'"
From your previous post it sounded like Prescott picked up an injury again last night? Tell me it aint so.

| I'd love to see him play a few games this year, rip it up and then get kept on because we're losing a lot of experience as it is and we need to keep some old heads in the squad.
It's a long shot with a) the amount of time he's been out and b) the amount of time he's got to make an impression this year but you never know.
If Prescott is injured again that pushes him up one place straight away.

I'd second that. If he could get back to his old self then he'd be a good replacement for Lima. It seems unlikely that we'll get anyone decent from the NRL, and there isn't anyone in Super League that's in their prime (and available).

how he sees a 33 year old injury prone player that has hardly played any games in 2 seasons as a replacement for probably the best prop in the league this year, if said player gets back to his usual self, which was mediocre at best

So you don't think he has the potential to be a very good prop?
Maybe a long layoff is exactly what he needed after his "burnout"?
Perhaps he has one more very good season in him?
I don't know the answer to this, only he does, but I would have thought his record deserves a bit more optimism?

| Maybe he isn't a like for like replacement, just as Smith isn't as good as Brett Finch, but we have to live in the real world not some fantasy world.
It seems very unlikely that we'll get anyone half decent from the NRL, so who is there that can replace Lima?
Most of our current props are towards the younger end of the age range. Of course it's a big if, but if Fielden can return to close to his old form then he'd be as good an option as is out there.

His Bradford record from many moons ago or his Wigan record which is let's face it, far from good, many fans are living in a dream world if they think he is going to play like the forward he once was

To Say Fielden has been mediocre is very unfair. He was immense for us in 2006 when he signed and only then had a couple of poor seasons on the back of some personal problems. Fielden had found some real form through the 2010 season and if I'm not mistaken would have been selected for England had he not had an op on his knee (that subsequently led to a lengthy lay off after trying to come back too early V bradford in the 2nd game of the 2011 season.
I was sceptical that he could make any sort of return this season but he has and based on last night for the U20's I would have no qualms whatsoever in putting him on the bench v salford. The guy deserves a chance and at the end of the day nobody on here really knows just how he will react from an 18mth absence.
He will not be stupid, he knows he will be playing for a reduced contract and if he gewts offered a better contract elsewhere I'm sure he will take it and good luck to him.
