| Embarrassed?
Not as half as embarrassed as I would be if my team just played sets of 5 and surrendered last tackles for near on 20 mins in a cup final, for fear of losing it earlier.
Deserved everything they got for not playing.

We did and we didn’t.
Cheer up mate, we’ve just won the Challenge Cup and Matty Pete has delivered.

| The right team won. The team that brought fans down won. The team that actually contributes positively to this sport won. That's all that matters.
Great win for Peet in his debut season too. There's obviously changes that need to be made to move this team forward, but it's so positive to see us back to winning ways .

Exactly right. They had us where they wanted us and gave up the ball on our line time after time. Similar to Saints in the semi come to think of it.

| I'm really pleased for Tommy too. How great for him to be able to lift the Challenge Cup as a swansong. The Giants will feel hard done by, but it all comes down to putting points on the board; they didn't when they had the chance, and we did.
Also, after all the lengthy complaints about goal-kicking, how ironic that at three tries each, it was Smith's goal-kicking that won it for us?

| Not the most skillfull of matches, but certainly worthy of a final. Thought Wigan were very good to stick with a team that I thought a shade better for the greater part of the game. Having hung in there applied the killer finish just when it was needed. Achieved by playing what was in front of you and not just throwing the ball around in panic. Pleased for Peet, especially after the stand he took with Hardaker.Looks to be wanting to get the right qualities within the club.

Agreed. Watched the game back and in the BBC summary at one point Wilkin had to remind his colleagues it is actually about winning and the winners.
All this the best team lost is nonsense. Wigan made plenty of mistakes but despite this Huddersfield never got far enough in front that Wigan scoring once wouldn’t win it because they stuck to plan “a” throughout. Even the missed conversions don’t matter because with three minutes to go they were in front and should have closed the game out. Those missed conversions should not have mattered.
Why didn’t Watson change tactics instead of sticking with the conservative game strategy?
Instead it was a bit like a football team going in front against Man City and then not trying to score again. Maybe the result wasn’t as inevitable as the outcome of that game would be but Hudds and Watson played a part in their own downfall.

Tommy has signed for another 12 months.
With regards to the game I thought Huddersfield dominated the majority of the game but were playing not to lose which cost them the game. They were only adventurous with the ball after they went behind in the second half and once they went back in front went back to just doing basics. We played poorly and did not respect the ball but at the end of the day all that matters is we came away with the cup.

| Firstly, congratulations on the win. Hope all your fans had a great day out and got home safely.
Yesterday was the first time I've ever really listened to Peet (I usually turn straight off after a match has finished) and what a seriously impressive individual he came off as. Unbelievably humble and just appears to be a truly nice guy who appreciates everybody around him. Peet makes Wigan a lot harder to dislike and I hope he does well in his career.

| All this talk of the best team lost is rubbish. In years to come when people have forgotten about the details of the game they will see that we won by two points. As John Wilkin said it’s all about winning. And as many observers have said on many occasions it’s an 80 minute game. And as has been said before (please note this Ian Watson) the best form of defence is attack. I feared that we would lose with minutes to go and was frustrated by Huddersfield’s negative tactics but, thank goodness, flare and the willingness to throw caution to the wind won us the day. Well done lads and bring on Huddersfield in the playoffs- we can only get better, whereas I think we saw the best of the Giants yesterday; and they still lost!

| I can see why people are saying the best team lost, Huddersfield certainly won the arm wrestle in the forwards and had the territory advantage but I didn’t think they looked too dangerous aside from Leutele. I also think as has been said Huddersfield got their tactics wrong in the last 10 minutes and should have been trying to kill the game off, very negative imo.
