Superb win with a weak side against a team with a better squad than us

Yeah, he was great. It was a rope a dope style performance but 9 times out of 10 Warrington are 20 plus points clear after 60 minutes based on the passage of play.

Quote: NickyKiss "It wasn’t pretty but that was a huge effort defensively. We look messy in attack or at least we did until Smith came on and played like a proper halfback.

Our props have taken a lot of stick but I thought the three lads in there give it one hell of a shot. I thought Partington was everywhere and Singleton really impressed me when he came on. He looked a very useful acquisition tonight.'"

Singleton has done more in that game than what burgess has done in all the games he’s played. He ran a great line and was unlucky not to score. He wasn’t left behind in any tackles.

Likes putting his foot in it Fitzpatrick doesn't he. That was a poor performance again but a very much improved second half for some individuals. Hardaker and Singleton in particular. Singleton can't be fit yet but looks a very good addition already. French got his hands on the ball more and Bullock and farrell showed up well. Glaring weaknesses in our side though.

Singleton was a breath of fresh air - added some steel when he was on.

Soaked up a lot of pressure and had to defend some great play from Warrington but they clearly ran out of gas at the end and we looked really threatening in the last 15.

Still big issues in the team and only winning a semi-final/final will turn it around for Lam but a really courageous performance.

Not vintage by any stretch and I thought for a lot of the game we were on the back foot throwing the odd jab (to use a boxers comparison). But the more we kept Wire out the more frustrated they got and the more we got our tails up led by the outstanding Zak Hardaker.

The turning point was Oli’s shot on Austin, alongside getting us over he took Austin out the game as well. Austin did his usual childlike strop and after that went hiding. It didn’t help Wire with Widdop being so poor.

What I couldn’t get my head around was the decision to wait until so late in the game to bring Smith on but not only that bringing him on for Powell with JH to hooker. Surely our best HB line up is JH and Smith?

On we go. Good win which keeps us in the play offs.

Just to add, I thought Singleton was immense. He really got stuck in and took the hard balls up and made good yardage. I was happy we signed him and he has justified that signing on that performance.

I don’t think he’s ever going to break teams apart but he just looked like a proper prop tonight. He’s big and aggressive and just looked like a guy who won’t take any sh*te. It wasn’t carpet carrying, plastic hard man stuff like Clubb comes up with most weeks but just a bit of controlled aggression and he gave of the impression that he’ll be more than prepared to get involved in the tough stuff. If you add Havard in to those three tonight, it looked like we may have a solid base to build from as those younger props get more experience.

Might not be a popular call but I think Lam deserves a good bit of credit tonight.

Made some big calls during the game and timed his subs to perfection.

Was that game as good as sky are making out? I’m buzzing we won and thought we showed great character but I’m not sure it was a classic.

If it was tactical the Shift in half back and hooker worked really well.

More handling errors than you might see normally, but I would take a game like that over a 30 point hammering of someone.

Just relieved that we won. 3 losses in a row didn't bare thinking about.

That being said how can we be so dogged this week and so powderpuff last week? We're so Jackal and Hyde it's crazy.

I said last week that the measure of a good coach is the gap between his team's best and worst performances. Sadly the difference between ours is too large to take too much comfort from tonight.

Tonight's the minimum that I'd expect from us and I really, really do hope this is finally the line in the sand.

On another note - I'm surprised how well Kevin Brown came across tonight.
