You may be able to find something online if you're interested. It involved Frankie and Benny's In Wigan (allegedly! )
As for the Australian incident he was fined for it and was alleged to have assaulted the door staff so hardly a nothing incident unless you want to apply your own standards to suit your agenda.
Incidentally the 'disgusting' Tomkins incident has some, shall we say, uncanny parallels with a certain incident that took place at Frankie and Benny's.
No one is saying that things at Wigan are rosy at the moment... I even agree with some of the things he has to say. The point being made is more a 'people in glass houses' type than anything else. He's hardly been a paragon of virtue either in terms of his off field behaviour or in the way he's put himself before the club. Both things he's ranting about in this interview. Hypocritical, no?

| Oh, and on the 'drugs one'; if you think that drug taking is confined to the young men of Wigan may I politely suggest you are very naive. That said I'm pretty sure you're aware it's rife at every club and in every city and town, yours included. The only variable is who is stupid enough to get caught.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| I’m less worried about the Wigan-born players in our squad than the non-Wigan born collective..
There’s more to come here I think.

Spot on. Bars/Clubs these days in the gents the queues for the cubicles are longer than the ones for the urinals (unheard of back in the 90's/early 00's)....you cant tell me they are all busting for a turd.
I've been to the last four Ladies Day at Aintree and it's absolutely rife, I was shocked a few years ago. Openly doing beak, no hiding in corners...gangs of lads, suited and booted, 2pm in the afternoon just tooting up off their finger & thumbs in front of their mates every few minutes as if they were swigging a drink of beer.

| I have high regard for Carney as a presenter, though anyone is better than Wiggy. And I had very high regard for him as a player, though I think he's demonstrating Short Memory Syndrome here.
Skiving, malingering ... call it what you will, but the way he left us in that final year was nothing short of disgraceful. He talks about players showing disrespect to the Wigan fans and club. He ought to know.

Personally, I think they're just being idiots.
I don't mean that exonerates them from blame, though.
Certainly, their actions are bringing embarrassment to the club, and great joy to the club's enemies. In addition, it leaves us in ethical messes, because what are we supposed to do: stand by them while they serve their bans, wasting money and salary cap space - when, as in the case of Hock, they might then go and throw it all in our face again? Or do what Cas did with Hardaker, and get rid straight away, and then maybe end up regretting it?
I doubt it was their intention to humiliate us this way, but the stupidity factor is very high - because anyone with half a brain would recognise that this outcome is always easily possible.

They've shown no respect for themselves
If I did the same it isnt a reflection on my employer, it's a reflection on me.
Petty points scoring about which club a player plays for is just an aside.
Warrington have started to turn their culture around, but as I am sure you will know 10 /15 years ago up until very recently it would be a case of "their for the grace of God" with a large proportion of those players.
I have friends, and other links to people who have played and have had other roles at wire and until very recently there was a lot of things going on, even under Smith. Let's just say there were lots of "Ups" & "Downs" amongst other things (and a certain well liked player at Wigan used to distribute them like smarties before he left so not just picking on wire here)
Price has vastly improved that, but they're not whiter than white same as EVERY club.
The question here is game wide, not just Wigan having 2 problems being caught in quick succession.
Because very soon it will be different players, different club's and although they may not get as much attention (Because it's Wigan) it doesn't detract from the issue.
Wigan do as much as any club if not more than most in educating youngsters coming through.
Just over 18months ago I was talking to a national coach of another sport who came down to speak to Shaun wane and look at the junior set up and he was blown away with everything from player recruitment, coaching and education and career path beyond rugby and said it was better than anything he had seen.
Only trouble is that creates other issues, you pamper them with all this extra stuff and they're likely to think there's always a get out clause and someone will help them.
However, that's better than the alternate of doing nothing.
End of the day though it's a nationwide issue and whether we think it is socially acceptable or not these days the game and it's players and officials need to understand that as long as we are following UKAD and WADA etc then that are of their social life WILL IMPACT on their chosen profession. If they want to continue with their habits then so be it, but they'll have to continue to dodge bullets and I won't feel sorry if they don't and get caught.
Wigan (Leneghan) provides a lot of support for players affected by a lot of issues and I reckon 75% of the issues goes on without the general public knowing about it. When it does become public the club have employer/employee responsibilities so it's not easy for them to explain what's gone on and how they've helped or disciplined the players/employees.
Majority of fans want a quick and simple response, we've sacked him for example but it's far far more complicated than that.
Educating players can only go so far, at some point they have to take responsibility for themselves (and no matter how much you tell some people, some learn quick some learn slow and some never learn at all).

| Good responses. There's a very small difference I feel in players that give there all, and let themselves down with off field lifestyle choices, and the likes of Tyrone Roberts, who didn't want to be here with us (similarly Sandow). Either way, it's the clubs that suffer in the end with someone under-performing or having one less in the squad all of a sudden. I suppose it doesn't really matter what label we put on these players, but it's annoying to the spectator that pays their money and are repaid with such behaviour.

I agreed all the way up to the “club” bit. Hamlin/Mullen/Hardaker absolutely disrespected the club by their actions. Mullen and Hardaker will and have had the opportunity to make it up but I suspect Hamlin will stay in Australia and be ever remembered as a complete waste of talent.
