| Well done Wigan RL & Shaun Wane
The time was right for him to move on.
His legacy is not tarnished, he can move on and so can we.
Hoping for a cup this year to send him off.

| As much as I’d like to hope for a name like Edwards, Farrell or Barrett, it feels much more likely that we’ll end up with Betts, Chester or Winder. Which for me will be massively underwhelming.

And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.'

I can almost taste the outrage on the forum now if IL decides to appoint a 'project' coach!

Would such a reaction be unwarranted?
If he signed an NRL assistant then given what happened with Madge I don't think such a coach would be considered a "project". If he goes with Winder with say Tommy as assistant (my current guess) the words that spring to mind for me are not just "project" but "cheap" and "compliant".
I also think any prospective coach from outside the club will have an eye on the squad they will inherit. If it's weaker than the one Wane has now if Bateman and Sutton leave and Lockers & Tommy are another year older or retire then it doesn't look such an attractive gig which IMO would make the appointment of Winder more likely. Sign up Bateman at least and give the incoming coach some scope to recruit where he sees fit and then it might be different.

"Compliant" how? Are you intimating that an appointment like Winder would just be the monkey to IL's organ grinder and would coach the team according to IL's dictates and not be his own man?

IMHO a Betts, Chester or Winder would be a step backwards. IL must know this. What we need is a visionary coach who will take us to the next level not an underwhelming coach such as has been listed. This is all the more important to get sorted sooner rather than later given who Saints have just signed. We need some quality players to replace those leaving/likely to leave and with no appointed Head Coach it doesn’t make us look an attractive proposition with a likely weakening squad.

Speak to any Bulldog fan, they're incredibly negative with what Hasler did to their club.

| I trust Lenagan to make the right call whoever it is. He’s appointed two coaches during his ownership and in Maguire and Wane I think everyone can agree he’s made some fantastic choices.
I don’t think there’s a stand out candidate tbh and it may be left field (a bit like Maguire) but whoever it is, I expect they’ll be chosen with our philosophy and culture in mind. They will be expected to keep utilising the academy and developing talent whilst competing for trophies.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Deacon features. Intelligent rugby brain who's now had experience in different top club environment over 2 codes. A Wigan lad who knows the club well as a player and behind the scenes.

Our last two “project” coaches were Wane and Macguire. Our last two eexperienced coaches were Millward and Noble.
Enough said.
