Currie on Powell was worse. In fact, far worse.

Interestingly Tony Smith (and for the avoidance of doubt I'm referring to the Tony Smith who coaches Warrington) described the sending off as 'harsh'.
I stand my my opinion that it was careless. There was direct contact with the head therefore I've no problem with the red, 2 - 3 games. Earlier in the season it would have been 3, this time of year the diciplinary historically are more lenient (which is something I disagree with) therefore he could end up with 2 or even 1 as he saw red.'"
I think he'll get four games. If this was his first offence he'd probably get 3 but it's not.
Imagine if he got two games, returned for the GF and had another brain explosion. I think the panel will ensure this can't happen.

| Great to see all the usual suspects on here.
Equally great to know how peeved they all that this time, Flower's sending off didn't gift the opposition victory.

I've seen some on the Wire board. Apparently Sky wanted us to win so next weeks Hull/Wire game wasn't a dead rubber.

To be fair my point can be switched to any sending off very rarely will the supporters of the player sent off accept, admit it was as bad as xan be perceived same as opposition fans will always make out it was worse than it was.
Don't think that curries was as bad as made out either, I've said it before n say it again the rfl are failing the players in jot offering any protection to them in instances like curries n the general desperation to prevent a try that happens every week are we going to have to wait for a severe injury or worse before they take player safety seriously. I don't want the game nerfed or softened whatsoever bur I don't want the players facing unnecessary risks to their health.
Careless is just as bad as intentional for me and should not be allowed as a mitigating factor.

| Remember the Widnes game where K Brown was penalised multiple times for high tackles, and there were others?
Where as the outrage for that? Long bans etc.

I can't agree with this. If you apply that to the Flower incident, by careless I mean he was going to put pressure on the kicker, turned his back as the ball was kicked and stuck an arm up and caught him with the elbow in the head. If it were intentional he would have been looking where he was targeting and applied a lot more force. Patten would not have got up again. There has to be a difference between the two.

As others have pointed out, even Tony Smith said the red card was harsh.

It migjt not of been intentional but at the end of the day he connects on the chin. Intention or not, its a red.
Id say 90% of suspensions are not intentional but its still foul play.
I think defo a red and e game ban.
Before all the wigan fans jump on me claiming im biased as im saints fan, i was one of the few that thought the last flower suspension was ott

I was disagreeing with a poster who said that an offence deemed as careless should be punished in the same way as one deemed intentional. If that was intentional it should be 10 matches, I don't think it was. If you read my previous posts you will see I thought it should have been a red and 2 - 3 game suspension.
