The proximity of the team to trophies is irrelevant if they fail to win anything. The comment was made because leeds were able to play out of the box at times last year not to a rigid wane structure, which was crucial in winning the games that mattered. Had wigan been more ''play it as you see it'' in that grand final, the scoreline at halftime would probably have been reversed and wigan would have gone on to be champions. The 2014 GF was a gimme had wigan not gone out with the ''knock em out'' mentality.
Wanes cost wigan 2 grand finals.

Would you rather have 1 season where you won the treble and then the next season played in the middle 8's, or 2 seasons where you were up there but won nothing?

Course you wouldn't pal, I mean you must only just be back watching the Rhinos these past two seasons since Ryan Bailey moved on.
Good for you having morals.

Please give us examples of when Bailey was a thug.
Thanks in advance

I would but the courts dealt with the main one so I'll leave it with them.
Yours in Rugby League

If Wigan had scored two more tries during the season Leeds wouldn't have finished top.
A "knock em out mentality" what are you on about? Do you seriously think that players are instructed to do that and get sent off? You do realise that is the outcome for throwing a punch most of the time and a certainty if a KO happens?
Having a structure and game plan is a bad thing? You do realise that people like Williams actually do the unusual and under McGuire there was more structure?

Of course he doesn't tell them to do that. He does seem to wind them up so it is more likely to happen especially v Saints. A couple of weeks ago it was obvious the players wanted to put Saints on their backsides but the trouble is they forgot about playing RL.

Wane has been recorded on camera doing exactly that. Knock people out, be reckless, cause mayhem etc in the game v New Zealand Warriors.

He has but everyone forgets the last line of that speech, "but do it legal"
He was advocating tough and aggressive play not foul play.

Nothing new there, but in some matches it does seem that he instructs players to swing arms in tackles knowing that it will bounce up into the face, swell as encouraging the odd late hit.
The technique was commonplace in the 80s, but Wane seems to not have noticed the changing of the game since he was a player.
Still remember magic weekend 2014 where you had a few injuries and just threw high tackles and late hits until you frustrated the Leeds players to the point of distracting them from the task in hand.
I don't think you can compltely separate that from incidents when the Wigan players cost themselves through over aggression

I really don't see us as more aggressive than other teams... Though, what is obvious is that anything we do is amplified through the hate/bitterness/bile/jealousy of other teams fans reactions...
Enjoy your weekend...

Which was also Madge's philosophy (and many other coaches, of course). I believe "roadkill" was the term he used.

Almost every game, particularly those with a clear underdog see exactly this kind of play. This isn't an attribute of any team, it's an attribute of the sport. How many times do we see the Sky team commenting on it?
And then, there's the big hit, shoulder charge and late tackle. Every team make them, and every team celebrates the big hit. Again, aggression is not a unique characteristic of the stop or any professional sportsman.
