| Quote: sergeant pepper "1-not sure how anyone can be in favour of the current system.
2- so be it but why does that give us the right to restrict the Dr or Wire who want to try something different? If they want to trail blaze let them.
3-just because the majority of people decide on something does not make it right. The term used is the tyranny of the majority. 12 can vote with 10 people voting to persecute the two in the minority that neither makes that decision just or fair. Thats the current situation in RL seeing that the majority of clubs have little ambition, no regard for either the long term future of the game or paying the players a fair wage. They simply don't want to be left behind.
4- you should only judge your wealth in terms of the situation you find yourself in. Wigan are rich in an RL sense as they get decent crowd levels for RL, turn over a decent amount of players that other teams will and do pay money for and lastly have potential for growth. Are they football rich - no but they aren't existing in that world.'"
1. Well, as pointed out above WE did vote for it. Still, most recognise that the current system doesn't work
2. I suppose that there are many more instances of clubs getting it wrong than right. Working within a cap seems sensible. It is the responsibility of the RFL to ensure the future of the game for all - not just for a few 'rich' clubs
3. 'Tyranny of the majority' or 'the wisdom of crowds'? No-one said that democracy was perfect. But it is probably better than a dictatorship, however benign.
4. I understand your point, but actually the crowds are pretty woeful. The Bulls thought that their crowds would rise exponentially with success. They didn't, therein lies the root of their current problems.
Not sure what any of this has to do with the thread - probably best carried on elsewhere. Apologies for going off topic.

| Hull are about to table a fee for Taylor due to Wigan activating his third year option, according to our local rag anyway.
Appolgies for the thread drift.

If that's true, he really must want to go back to Hull. Otherwise, Wigan would surely tell Hull to sod off and stop pestering us.
Very bizarre thinking by the player.

It seems like common sense by the Wigan board to me. By activating the 3yr option at least the club will be compensated. Wouldn't surprise me it this course of action had already been agreed by the player and both clubs.
As for it being bizarre well people get home sick. I once dealt with a chap 83 years old, been in South Africa for 50 years. I asked why he'd come back to Hull. He told me he'd got really homesick. Now thats bizarre.

Only thing I know is what some of his family have said at this end. Which is he's coming home.

| Good luck to him.
Great player, Hull have a solid signing, but i'm sure we can find an adequate enough replacement

| Lenagan won't let a player walk away from Wigan for free if he knows this far in advance they want to leave. In the case of Hansen I thought he was wrong because our need for an experienced backrow outweighed our need for cash. In the case of Taylor though I think he'd be spot on! We have options, we can plan now to replace him and we get some money.
No point keeping an unhappy player (if he is).

| I've just watched a programme about Alan Shearer. He left a Championship winning side to go to his own town (city) club and won nowt. He doesn't regret it at all.

I am now pasting my following post that I have just put on the rumors and signing thread on the Mr Tauti thread because Mr Taylors name is popping up on every ruddy thread on here.
If the mods want to shout at me (especially the one with the big teeth) so be it.
When Taylor signed two years ago on a 2 year contract with an option of a further year in the clubs favour I said at the time something was not quite right. My point was if a club signs a young player and pays a significant fee for him you expect a contract of more that 2 years and with it only being 2 years it shows the reluctance of the player to sign for longer.
Hence the Club having an option of a further year to cover their backs.
At the time I was shouted down on this forum, I am not going to look for my posts and replies from 2 years ago but I know what I posted and the reaction I got.

| We get it - you may have been right (and you're making sure everyone who reads any thread on here sees it). Then again, you may not.
