Green frustrates the hell out of me. When he's on it he's brilliant but at times he seems to keep choosing the wrong passing option. We don't seem as well oiled in attack as in previous seasons, our attacking shape seems much flatter and I don't think that's helping, the players are nearly on top of each other when we are trying the sweeping moves.

Green had a poor game today.

| Any referees on here?
Bateman pushes Carney who throws a punch and gets sin-binned. Penalty goes to Cas.
Why?
I always thought that the greater offence nullified the original one, and therefore Wigan should have had the penalty.
I think Cas scored a try in the next set of six.

Huby certainly ruffled him before he went off, best tackle of the game. Would love Pettybourne in our team though, a real tough character.

I'm not a ref but my brother is.
As soon as the first penalty is given, the ball is deemed dead - so any further actions from the penalty may be punished as appropriate - the ref would of ruled that had the penalty been taken immediately the cas offence would not of occurred and thus doesn't rule out the original penalty. That doesn't mean that the cas offence goes unpunished however and if it were sin bin worthy then that's what would happen. There's a bit of interpretation in the rules but this is what he was always told
The only time "seriousness" is taken into account is when two offences occur independently of each other (knock on and a late challenge for example)

| We managed to get out of jail but then got mugged, we need to be a lot smarter, this season was always going to be work in progress after all the experience we have lost, but hey it is a cross country race not a sprint, we do seem to lack leadership when Lockers is not playing and Josh is plainly not firing yet after his surgery but at least the sun shone and we got out of the car park in quick time !!

| Not read all of the thread but I thought Burgess's try was a blinder.
Got to see that on the TV replay shows.
What a great young winger this lad is. He's no longer a prospect, nor the finished article but he already is a brilliant try scoring winger.

The only time serious matters is if one was an error and the other a foul (e.g if Bateman knocks on then Carney punches it's a Wigan penalty). The only time a penalty can be 'reversed' is dissent (e.g Bateman pushes then Carney gobs off at the ref, it's a Wigan penalty)

| My thoughts from the game yesterday
1. Cas deserved the win - but we should have pushed on in the first 10 minutes of the second half and we bombed too many opportunities.
2. Without Lockers we are rudderless
3. Micky Mac is not a skipper too hot headed (after they scored 3 we got back in it and got another 3 then when we should be capitalising on the momentum he gives away a penalty inviting them back in our half)
4. Thornley is at the moment a liability, doesn't know how to pass. We miss Goulding - so does Josh.
5. Sargisons defence is poor. No way is he ready yet for the first team, he's done nothing in attack either (to be fair he does show promise though)
6. Burgess is ready.
7. The props were all good, with Clubb really looking the part.
8. Faz is consistently good.
9. Bateman may be too small for SR, but he is too good not to be in the team. He did well at centre at the end.
10. Whilst Bowen did well at the basics, he offers no leadership or spark in attack.

| not sure why there's bits of bckering on here - thought it was an incredible advert for the sport and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible.
Why we want a new stadium is beyond me. Millons of pounds that could do up WR and keep our heritage intact.
Wigan were off their best but I think we were too between 20-50 minutes. The last 5 mins were just about heart and courage.
Mcllorum will cost you your titles this year if he can't reign in his thuggish antics. Likewise, Carney throwing haymakers after 5 minutes won't do us much good either.
Hope you enjoyed the day darn't lane (for 79:56 minutes, naturally)

Whilst I'd normally support MMc, you have a fair point. It was a great game as far as entertainment goes but Wigan couldn't defend in the first half, letting two tries in when you had only 12 on. They really should have pushed on after half time and made the game safe. I thought Cas played some good rugby. They passed the ball better - and certainly don't miss Rangi.
Let's hope you all come to the DW later in the season and make the atmosphere good then too.

"Thuggish antics" was a vague call from me just then - I'll go with indiscipline to avoid any backlash.
Yeah you guys could've been a lot better, but I dunno how much without SoL. I don't give him much credit usually but I think his impact is best noticed when he isn't playing, if that makes sense
Thansk for the big numbers there though - you guys eventually found your voices after a nightmare start. I'm sure we will oblige at the DW - hope it's as entertaining!
Until then...........

| Even though Waney was sat directly in front of me, I still felt I had to bag Mcilorum on the radio yesterday. He was awful early on and his second half return coincided with the consistent spell of conceded penalties. It was more captains flop than captains knock for me. Logan had done well and I believe we would have won had we not swapped the hookers back round.

| I am still not sure about Bowen. He did not give us much in attack and cancelled out his own score with some juggling behind the posts that lead to a Cas try. Not sure about what happened there. Was he clotheslined after he played the ball or did he just collapse in a heap?

| As I said yesterday I am not too downhearted and that has not changed today. I think we're all guilty of underestimating the impact the WCC could have on our season. I don't think we'll see the true capability of this side until around Good Friday. We now have Hull KR and then Wire away, two tough games. The attitude just wasn't there yesterday especially indiscipline, one of the most frustrating displays in recent times but means very little after 3 games.
