Huh?
You really ought to stop your vitriol and bitterness getting in the way of you making a sensible post....

We've also picked up the odd nugget of similar calibre to those mentioned. We are losing a lot of players granted but this idea that BrettKenny keeps putting forward that the reason we don't sign top players is because IL won't pay up is completely without evidence.

Leeds and Warrington for example, don't have players that are "wanted", most are either very good club men, or too old to be of interest to the NRL. This idea that Hetherington is holding out against the NRL is flawed thinking to my mind..
I take your point on the players you mentioned, but they are hardly the world beaters and of the calibre some on here expect us to be signing...

| I really dont think a plan A, B, C or whatever had anything to do with our defeat. We were battered because once again our forwards were completely dominated, both in attack and defence, against a top team. If the forwards cant hold their own and make the hard yards then no plan will work.

I totally agree and it has always been thus, you don’t need to be a top coach or a brain surgeon. The backs get the glory, but the forwards set the platform and does the spade work for a team’s success. Give them the space to do the job and the backs will win you the game, for me our forwards are the key.

Ah, if only you'd been quick enough to think of that snappy comeback in the first place, eh? Still, adding it as an edit is something, I suppose. Certainly let's you recover some ground, even if you don't want to actually respond to how I viewed your logic. If you see vitriol and bitterness in that post then you have a problem. It was calling you to account, however. Something you seem happy to do to others. Why should others have to have a RL CV to post their opinions?

Odd statement.
There are many effective players who wouldn't get anywhere near coaching jobs.
There are many excellent coaches who couldn't play for toffee.
There are undoubtably many people who haven't done either who would make excellent RL coaches.
Strange post.

Well didn't IL go on record as saying something like "Wigan must break even on their own account" or something like that?
Couple this with the absolute decline in players standards and that is pretty good circumstantial evidence at the very least.
Frankly I couldn't give a monkeys. I am just very sad at the deterioration of the calibre of player in RL in general and Wigan RLFC specifically.

I seem to have the same discussion with you on every thread, we may end up having to agree to disagree I just can't understand what you expect IL to do. I know you're annoyed with the state of the league and I'm with you on that but IL seems to make the best of a bad situation IMO, and I definately do give a monkeys

No stranger than yours where you suggest that SW may be lacking brain cells... But no worries, JJ will bite when you are not around, despite not being required, as you are more than capable of defending yourself..

Agree with you 100%. RL in this country has seen its top end talent evaporate away.
20 years ago Wigan had Edwards, Bell, Offiah, Robinson, Botica, Lydon
10 years ago you had Farrell, Lam, Radlinski, Dallas, Craig Smith, Carney
Now there's Sam Tomkins who would be great in any era and O'Loughlin who would also have got in the teams of the past. The rest is forgettable.
But Wigan have won the Challenge Cup already like they always used to, and are a fair bet of winning the double, because they are playing in an era where you don't need to be great to win cups.
Back when Wigan were winning everything other fans say it was because the rest of the league was all amateur but look who was around the other sides then, Schofield (plus Hanley after 1991), Davies, Bateman, Scott Gibbs, players that were all streets ahead of what SL has today.
These days the game's best players are guys like Danny Brough and Rangi Chase. Sad.
English RL is going through a down spell, and the top Aussies don't come here any more because of the exchange rate and money in the Aussie game. But they haven't been replaced by great young British players, it has just meant players that wouldn't have been up to it in other eras, are filling SL spots.
