| As a wigan fan there is a lot of moaning about nothing in this thread. Like the earlier poster said Huddersfield is close enough to equidistant. Stop winging about venues who cares.

| I prefer to play it in Catalan in July for the semi
How far is it for Wigan to get to Manchester Airport compared to us getting to Manchester Airport?

| Quote: pie.warrior "exactly.....we have travelled "over the border" 9 times in the last 11 meetings with the Yorkshire team only venturing in lancs twice......where is the neutral split in that.....'"
You have just confirmed exactly what I said in the sentence you highlighted. Congratualtions on that.
The comment wasn't that Wigan fans were stupid full stop, but that Wigan fans were stupid to not understand the difference between "neutral" and over the border. Your response been we have gone to Yorkshire 9 times out of 11, how is that fair. Well done.

| yorkshire team playing in yorkshire against a lancs team is hardly a neutral venue even if it is on the border..........you cant have neutral if it involves teams from either side of the great divide and the match is played in either county....
What bit don't you understand....

| we have had home county advantage twice in 11 meetings and had to play in the enemies domain 9 times......so on those stats it should be in Lancs........but we know the RFL will again play it in Yorkshire.

Nice bit of spin on complete ballacks figures there. You have played a Yorkshire team 9 times in a semi final in Yorkshire since 1960. In that same period you have played a Yorkshire team 3 times in Lancashire (usually a near as possible to you).
Of the 9 times played in Yorkshire 4 of those 9 games were against Hull KR, and were played in Leeds/Bradford/Huddersfield. You really saying Hull KR had an advantage over you. One of the other games was against York, again played in Leeds.
It's kind of a different picture to the one your paint in reality. Even when you played London in the Semi Final it was played in Huddersfield. I bet non of you were complaining then.

| To be fair to the RFL if they couldn't play it in Lancashire or Yorkshire to make it truely neutral we'd be pretty screwed.
Huddersfield is fine but Doncaster wouldn't be. How big is Rochdales ground? That would seem somewhere in the middle of both clubs.

You missed this one:
2002 Semi Final: Saints vs Leeds, DW
That now makes it 5 with 60% in Yorkshire and 40% Lancashire which is a fairer split.
With all the discussion about venue choice and location, has anyone factored into account things such as cost and availability of stadiums?

Just play it in Manchester. Between the two clubs.
Double-header at COM would get my vote to be honest.
Failing that, play them at the newst RL stadiums. Many Wigan and Leeds fans will not have been to Langtree park yet and that will sell a few extra tickets. Same for Warrington v Hudds at Salford.
With the BBC doing the games, will they want it close to media city?

| Quote: [Gareth] ""When was the last time Leeds played a CC Semi-Final at a ground in Lancashire?'"
vs Lancashire opposition:
2002, 2001, 1994, 1993.
As with Wigan, Leeds have played a majority of semis vs Lancashire opposition in the opposition's county: ten out of the past 15 occasions in fact (i.e. before the recent three in Huddersfield vs St Helens it was ten out of 12).
Presumably this arises due to Central Park and Headingley being the predominant semi final venues for decades.
