And let's follow it up with "The referee's a...not very nice person"

Grow a pair? What a totally disrespectful reply.
As it happens I totally agree with him. Just because "Bad language is everywhere in every day life" doesn't mean I want my 9 year old exposed to it at a rugby game.

Okay, sorry, maybe it was a tad disrespectful. But like I said, don't want your kids to hear bad language? Don't let them walk out of the door, or watch the T.V.

Its strange how things change. A few years ago I would join in with singing at the back of the stand at KR but now I have started taking my son who is 6 I stand as far away as possible. We walked away from LP and he asked me did I hear all the bad language. I looked to the sky and prayed he didn't repeat it. Only for him to say, we wont tell mummy what they said, god bless him.

He doesn't play in the street with a load of kids shouting and singing obscenities and he doesn't watch TV after 9pm. In fact he's not even up at 9pm unless it's a Friday match.
Look I realise that he'll hear stuff like this whilst he's at school and I even have a chuckle myself at the W@nky Warrington song but I do think that some of the stuff that's sung at games is dragging us down to the level of some of the less salubrious clubs that you highlighted earlier. I'm only 39 and, call me a hypocrite, it's not that long ago that I'd be joining in with this stuff but it is a family sport still and I'd hope that it will remain that way unlike our multi million pound ground share sport.

| Obviously, if I had a child and took them to the game, I wouldn't sing obscenities, nor would I want them to hear it, but I wouldn't complain about it. Because there's nothing that can be done, it's how things are, I'm afraid.

yep its a biggy ...officially endorsed by the club who's year it never is....
who sang the "its always your year" song first BTW yourselves or saints....??
the scousers sang it to us last month (then Bizarrely SALFORD!!!) I thought it was a compliment on us winning 3 trophies in 3 years but apparantly it was a pop at us never winning anything...
I'm glad someone has sung the same back to them, though "its never your year just like the last 5" would have been better.
but who sang it first ?

What's with all the analysis of whether someone can sing a song...jeez. There was even a whole thread designated to the details of each word of the song...
Just take it as (I hate the word, but...) 'banter'. We gave it out to Warrington and then took the stick against Leeds and Wigan...GET OVER IT.

| Quote: Jimofwigan "I was at the St Helens match with my family and was disgusted at the language used in this chant. Rugby league is still a family sport and needs to stop as one. Foul language in chants is not required . The humour of the chant would not be lost if you droped the F word. When you have children you will know what I mean.'"
Completely agree with this point of view. The song was good it was a shame that it included the f word.

Exactly, the way I see it, it might be a family game but in my opinion its still a male dominated sport, and just like in a male dominated workplace, you'll always get bad language, thats life, there's been swear words in our songs for generations, and im afraid, always will be. Kids hear a lot worse on the streets, and in this day and age, probably at school whether it be highschool or even primary school.
