| Quote: Guerrier "Interesting.
A mate of mine is a Hull FC fan, and attributes Agar's management and tactics (or lack of both) to why people may be underwhelmed.
He's improved greatly since he came over, seeing as he doesn't give away as many penalties while he's holding the ball. Get him on the back of our training and fitness regimes, and the more structured attacks and I'm quietly confident he'll be a good signing for Wigan in 2012. Assuming, that is, he has signed
He hasn't improved greatly since he came over at all. His best game in a black and white shirt was his first (remember that foggy night against Saints?). Since then, he's shown glimpses that he has the makings of a good impact second rower (in attack at least), but has failed to produce anything like his best form on a consistent basis.
That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if much of his indifferent form has been down to Agar's coaching and the fact that he's using him as a prop. With someone who knows what they're doing, he could be a good player. They'd have to sort out his half-hearted and lazy defensive technique first, though.

Well summed up, RG.
Lauaki has been a big disappointment for Hull FC. BTW he debuted for Hull at the end of 2009.
We signed him in the February but had no end of problems getting his visa and he then put his hand through a pane of glass at home moving some furniture (some might say that included more effort than all his time in a Hull shirt but I couldn't possibly comment). He played the last three games that season and the six month wait wasn't really worth it.
Who knows, he may flourish under a competent coach but I wouldn't mourn him leaving Hull FC.

| Interesting that the Hull fans consider him a 2nd row - we're really short in that position aren't we?
A poor man's Feka in the 2nd row.

| Sean Long seemed to grasp when and how to pass to Lauaki at the right time.....I personally think we haven't seen the best of him as a 2nd row since Long has been out all the time.
Lauaki could go well for you, I just think he needs a coaching team who truly believe in him. Think Agar and Co told him to curb his aggression and since then he seems to slow up on impact when played at prop.
Plus he will be around a winning mentality culture and with new attacking structures to learn and be a part of, you could see him do alright.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Did Carmont get everyone excited when we signed him? Did Leuluai? Did Coley?
All 3 of the players above were not exactly international class players when we signed them.
Give Lauaki a chance. He has been in a poor team under a poor coach at Hull. He is probably unfit and looked after poorly and playing under poor systems.
He has some very, very raw talent with ball in hand, he is very aggresive which is exactly what we lack at times. Let Bitcon get him fit and bulked up and let him train with our team and give him a chance.
Ok, he doesn't exactly get me excited but I trust that Wane probably sees something in him. He has a good judgement on players from what I can see. Look at his record working in our youth system.
Look what our coaching staff have done with Mossop. He had a little bit of raw talent and they have turned him into our best prop and one of our top tacklers. Lauaki has super league experience and with the guidance of our coaching staff I think he could be useful. I say give him a chance if he signs.
Finally despite our very talented backrow, probably the best in super league in terms of depth... they are actually all quite similar players. Only Farrell and Hock offer us something slightly different IMO. Most of our SR are workers but none are actually devastating runners. Only Hock has that ability and Farrell has quick feet.

| I will keep an open mind, but i am concerned at using a quota spot for what no body can deny is a bit of a risky signing.

He isn't a quota player, he has an eligable kolpack passport.

Does he not still count as overseas trained though - you can only have 5 overseas trained/overseas quota players in total can't you?

Yes so basically we are using one of these very valuable spots attempting to polish a turd.

Don't think so, apparently he is non-fed, so wouldn't count towards your 5 quota spots. Anyway, that's my understanding - all these quota, kolpacks and non-fed's do get me turned around, so sorry if I have made an error.
