| Quote: RED LEAGUE "Put it this way if Man Utd wern't around and Salford were the only major sporting team in a city of 270000 we'd have a club easily the size of Wigan and Leeds, look at it this way when kids choose a sport in Salford its always Football and the team they want to play for is Utd and they are the team they will follow, where as in Wigan kids are brought up on rugby and want to play for the warriors and again they will be the team they support. We will never have that pool of youngsters you have but we still try our best with bringing youngsters through.
Tbh i'll let Wigan fans have their cocky arrogance i can't say im not the same sometimes when watching Utd kicking teams s like Wigan.'"

Tell that to the swathes of Irish folk getting back onto their planes at Manchester Airport, or the hoardes of execs in their beemers, mercs & audi's hurrying back to Surrey, or even the masses of Eastern Europeans that have recently sprung up on the terraces. The majority of 'real' Mancs have been priced out of season tickets at OT.

Why would "real" Mancs watch United? United's ground is in Stretford which is not and never has been in Manchester.
The only time United play soccer in Manchester is when they play at City's ground. In the old days that was Maine Road now it's at Eastlands.

In that case you would have to include Wigan, Bolton, Rochdale, Oldham, Stockport, Bury etc.
There's no way I'm ever going to say I'm from Manchester!
If you live in Stretford you don't pay any rates to Manchester Council, you don't have to ask Manchester Council for permission build an extension etc. because It's not in Manchester.

I was born in the shadows of Maine Rd, but am a red. Pretty Manc as far as I can work out. As we're all my friends who I grew up with in the seventies and eighties. I still work in Manchester and I know a lot of people from Manchester and they certainly ain't blues. Nor do the vast majority of them, who are season ticket holders, come on a plane, drive a Merc, or have ever been to Surrey.
Think you'll find that all of the top clubs have fans that come from all over the world, and a lot of the 'local' fans are priced out. Manchester is a good mixture of red and blue, and has areas with pockets of each. As has Liverpool or Glasgow. So 'real manc's are blue' is a load of shoite. Keep churning out the myths though eh

| When you live in Manchester you soon realise that all this 'no one from Manchester supports Man U' rubbish is just that. It's a split in the city just like Liverpool/Everton and Hull F.C/Hull K.R. Man U just happens to have global appeal as well

I work in Manchester and i'd say three quaters of the people I work with support United and a Quater City.
I've been to Old Trafford watching Latics a couple of times though and the amount of Irish, Norwegian, Cockneys etc there is unbelievable. To be fair though it's much the same at Liverpool and will be at City in time as they jump on the bandwagon.
Football has gone to the dogs in recent times. I've always been a huge fan but i've pretty much had enough with all the spoilt brat antics from the big time charlie players recently. The reaction from Nani yesterday pretty much summed it all up.

Things like that wouldn't happen if the ref just sent players off for it. I hope to god rugby never gets like that.

Right you are. Any other die hard mancs have no got rid of their season ticket because of the glazers. Even the top tier of the stretford end is now full of day trippers and foreigners. Thats the route football is heading appart from the away fans.

I know of one guy (Irish) who has a section of thirty plus seats up in the top tier. Every fortnight a different thirty Irish people sit in these seats. The guy who organises it is seen 2-3 times throughout the season.
In addition to the season ticket you pay for, it's compulsory for you to sign up to the cup games (they actually deduct the cash from your account). Each European match has costed my mates £50-60+ and for each round they progress to, they add an additional fiver to the amount deducted.

If you knew the history of proper Manchester you would realise how stupid that comment is!

Why not educate me then?
Manchester is a city in North West England. It has a population of 460,000 and doesn't include Stretford. Or Salford.
If you mean Manchester United started life as Newton Heath (which is in Manchester) I know that.
When they moved out of Manchester and into Stretford they changed their name.
