| Quote: Uhtred "That song does my head in. Don't hear a peep from the United fans until they are winning and then they come out with that rubbish! I hope we get more like German football fans. They sing from kick off till the final whistle regardless of if their team are winning or losing. I remember being with a friend watching Union Berlin vs Fortuna Düsseldorf and couldn't speak by the end of the game.'"
Watching football always leaves me speechless

| Quote: wiganers "How about something like liverpool sing to the tune of fields of athenry. Not sure of the words?'"
Again its originally a Celtic song.
All round the fields of central park
Where once we watched Eric Ashton play (and could he play)
Billy Boston on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing
Of the glory round the fields of central park
Don't like it mainly cause scousers sing it.

THAT is the the best one!
Get it in it's own thread everyone learn (not hard) the words. If u don't know it search Wes Brown in YouTube and click the fans in the pub clip.
This would be class at numerous away games...
I LOVE this one

In soccer not much happens so they have to sing to pass the time. In rugby there is usually alot of excitement on the pitch.

Thats the Blydon Races and is a Newcastle united song.

I'd say 85% of PL clubs sing it tbh (I don't really care who started it neither)

Edited for correctness.
The Thatto Heath reference was based upon the legendary inauguration ceremony at their club for new players in a game called "Freckles"

| I seem to remember - and I hope I'm wrong - listening to a version of "The Mighty Quinn" at Central Park during the 1980s, except the lyrics were changed to the Mighty Wigan. Please tell me I'm wrong.
Oh, and also a song based on Mike Harding's Uncle Joe's Mintballs. Again, I'd like to believe its not true and its something I dreamt in fever-induced nightmare.

as the mighty quinn was a record by the group manfred man in the late 1960s.i think football and rl teams were using it for chant since then.
i sure i heard the chant on motd in the 60s with diffrent words for each team fans but i could be wrong and my age is playing tricks
