There's no reason to have a tantrum. People are allowed to disgree.

But if you're now going back to the Kearney thing as proof of what you say, then I think you're grabbing at straws given that I thought we were discussing the current lack of announcement. In fact, it could be argued that the Kearney breach of confidence is a key reason WHY there is no current information flow - because people can't be trusted to keep negotiations to themselves.

Anyway, I'm not sure that avoiding hurting Brian Noble's feelings is, or should be, high on Wigan's agenda. Noble has applied for other jobs while he's been with us - did he do wrong too? I don't think it's an issue, personally, but by your argument, the answer must be yes. I'd also say that he's not got what it takes to move the team forward from this position, which is really the most important thing of all. In that respect, IL trying to get someone in who's a lot more promising - like Kearney - is not doing wrong, but doing right.

All the other stuff about what the chairman said re. his relationship with Noble, and vice versa, is fluff. All that really matters is moving Wigan forward. That isn't happening with Brian Noble as head coach.

So its Kearneys fault IL is telling the fans nothing. How so? Is he supposed to lie about being offered the job when asked?



Who mentioned Nobles feelings? Yes IL has a right to move the club forward, whether Kearney was the right choice is a different debate. I havent got a problem with IL speaking to other people and have never said so, my issue is that he isnt up front about these things.



Then why say it? You could argue it wont move forward until IL gets the recruitment right and stops wasting salary cap money on the wrong players.

What has your (incorrect IMO) opinion of Higham got to do with what was said? He was told he had a year to earn a new contract and was not given the year.

When IL came he said we were not after a prop because we had 7. Then recently he changed his mind and went looking for one in OZ. Couldn't find one so all of a sudden it becomes better not to bother once more.

Then there is the Kearney thing as AJ mentioned.

At the very least IL is inconsistent in what he has said but some of it is just downright contradictory.

Maybe people giving him on a hard time on message boards ARE contributing to a sense that it's not worth the trouble. I doubt someone like him would give up so easily, but you never know. It's the drip-drip effect, isn't it? When times get hard, he may wonder "why should I bother when creatures like that bad-mouth me even when they have no information about anything that's happening?" I know it would p122 me off.

Like it or not, IL did the right thing approaching a potential recruit like Kearney. He can't stop people publicising it afterwards. The only way to do that would be not to approach him at all - which is the point I was making.

Being 'up front' with people ... I suspect you mean being 'up front' with the general public (because the people who matter will already know)? I'll say what I've said all along about that. Some negotiations are more delicate than others - players, agents, potential new coaches, won't necessarily want it publicising that they're talking to Wigan. Wigan won't necessarily want to publicise it given that target individuals often then receive better offers from elsewhere. I've not yet heard a single good reason from anyone why IL, or any other chairman, should keep the public fully appraised of ALL recruitment developments. It flies in the face of logic.

As for the wasting salary cap money accusation, that's merely your opinion. My opinion is that our lack of current success is down to poor coaching and conditioning, and I'd question the RL knowledge of any person who denies that that's not at least a big contributory factor.

Agree entirely with this. We actually have a talented squad and in Sam T have a player who could well be the most talented british back since Jason Robinson as well as other outstanding young players. If we had a better coaching and backroom set up we'd be at or very near the top of the table. Saints are a shadow of the side they were a few years ago, as are Leeds and a really good coach wouldn't need to bring in many (any?) new players for us to be a top side once again.

Still nothing from the club.....

A statement is being prepared by the club and will be released within the next two weeks.

We can all guess the club will leave the door open for him to return and redeem himself once his 2 year ban is up.

Well if they were simply going to bin him off then I doubt a statement would take this length of preparation.
