If Sam called for a pass Fielden should be experienced enough to know that he needs to create a gap to give Sam any chance of breaking the line in this situation.

If that was an example from Wigan's book of set moves then we desperately need a new play book.

If Sam called the ball when there was no move on then it his him that is at fault not Fielden for giving it, he doesn't know what Sam has seen, he responds to Sams knowledge and experience, which if your scenario is correct isn't enouogh for this type of game. Maybe therefore Tomkins shouldn't have been on the field.

Supporters get too wound up on individuals, its a team game and sometimes the team as a whole under performs, sometimes individuals do under perform but when that happens if the team plays well they can carry him.
