Its a very likely scenario. Wouldn't be very confident though. Hudds I'd expect as favourites. (maybe we could get them back for 98 )? icon_wink.gif icon_lol.gif

Quote: Ged Byrne's Shammy "Wigan v Hudds Final? What do you think?
As things as they are I wouldnt want to tempt fait...but if i was gambling on a final 2, I would say wigan V hudds looking at current form and how the teams are playing.....Saints look massively on the decline and have looked woeful for the last few weeks now....so much so i think we've got a far better chance of winning there in two weeks than winning the big one at home tbh and I would have never said that. In addition even with all our injuries and players out, I think we should have too much for warrington, who are now back to their usual performance level after a freak 5-6 weeks that made them all dizzy at another 'Year of the Wolfs'!!!! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

For me in terms of saints I really think we're starting to see the end of st helens dominance. since the offshore image rights payment loophole has been closed the salary cap is biting stains suddenly and their having to reduce their wage bill....losing talau last season with no replacement, now long and gilmour is going, wellens is spent, (if he was ever there in the first place) and KFC must be in his last few games. Add to that they dont seem to be making murmous to bring players in next season which would make you think they are cutting their wage bill for next season and clearing out like we did approx 6 years ago to get under the cap. Their 'great kids' is something of a joke as well IMO....theres only Eastmond and Moore with any real talent and the rest are just average acadamy lads. Next year as their old guard diminishes I can see stains in 4-5 years of transition much the same as we have been through, and I really dont think they'll be anything more than an averageish top 4-6 team for the next few years and be back at their natural level of looking up at us icon_wink.gif

Saints next year will probably line up something like this, which I dont actually think is that scary any more and is actually disctinctly quite average

1. Wellens
2. Gardner
3. Gidley
4. Soliola
5. Meli
6. Pryce
7. Eastmond
8. Cayless
9. Roby
10. Graham
11. Wilkin
12. Flannery
13. Clough
------------
14. Fa'asavalu
15. Hargreaves
16. Puletua
17. Moore

I don't like saints one bit and they aren't what they were a few seasons ago but who apart from Leeds are? To say that team is average tho is laughable IMO.

Their centres are the best in the league and they've got Pryce who is a top sl half back paired with a kid who is arguably just as good as half of the 7's out there already. That's still an excellent back line as good as another in the league and can cause some serious problems for anyone.

Then they've got graham, Roby, Mary, Pauleta up front with potentially Coley joining them as a fourth choice prop. No beating around the bush that's an excellent front row as well.

Then your not even starting to mention the likes or Moore, Lomax, Wheeler, Clough etc

The likes of us, Catalan, Wire and Hudds are average saints are still a level above IMO.

I thought today highlighted again why we need to strengthen in the forwards. Bradford were all over us in that department. Stuart Fielden had a shocker but the collective effort from the pack was not good enough against Bradford.

On the other hand we forced a lot of repeat sets but didn't make it count. Leuluai had a good game and it was a brilliant break from Tomkins to put over Joel Tomkins in support. Some fantastic cover defending from Phelps and Amos Roberts (I think) to stop Michael Platt scoring in the opening minutes.

Martin Gleeson just knocked off 10K from his transfer fee for me. Created space for himself throughout the game and looked dangerous. Solid in defence. An old cliche but very true he really has sorted out that side of our defence. Finished off a neat try for himself and then setup a brilliant try for Amos Roberts to win the game.

Scrappy game. Lots of errors and ill discipline at times. To summarise I was pleased with the win but not pleased in the manner we had to win. i.e having to comeback. We should never have been in that situation.

I never thought we meant that much to you.xxx

It seems Glees is starting to settle and we've both done well out the deal(although we got 100k as well as a player who is playing fantastic for us). icon_wink.gif

Bang on, we have won the last 4 without playing well in my opinion, we simply have not been as poor as the opposition, we will need to play well over the next 3 fixtures if we are to get anything out of them.
