Can we please just not accept he's a bright future for the Wigan Left Wing?

Him and Pryce will be the left wing partnership for many years to come, turn wood.

Yes his performances have dropped, in a lower standard of rugby. What was teh excuse of the other 17players a few weeks ago?

You can't just question one players performances. I just think you are looking for the answer yes it's Noble's fault. icon_rolleyes.gif Are you a Noble Hater/Outer??

Quote: After "Because that's who everyone in the press were Over Hyping at that point and constantly asking Noble to talk about!!!!! '"

So that makes it okay to single him out?

Everyone has made a big deal over Richie Myler this year and Joe Westerman last year - did you see their coaches make comments like Noble's?

Quote: After "On the other hand if Noble tells everyone he's the Best winger in the League then other players will Traget him to Put him in his place and knosck him down!!!!! '"

Then surely it was best not to say anything at all?

Quote: After "I don't, I just think he had one of those spells when he came in that wasn't ever going to last, Noble decided what he thought his best options were and stuck with that, that's all!'"

So you believe he was just going to put in brilliant performances for a few weeks and then suddenly go dire?

And you honestly say that Noble made the right decision in dropping Ainscough after that Wakefield performance and made those comments about him given the form than Ainscough is in now?

Maybe we will have to agree to disagree?

Quote: After "No, but he only dropped Ainscough "After" we signed Gleeson, once we Had Ainscough was the one to miss out for me?? If we hadn't signed him then maybe Phelps or Whoever whould be at Centre and Ainscough still in the team.
We did sign Gleeson and he isnt, I am sure Noble isn't doing this to "Spite" some fans for no reason??? '"

He dropped Ainscough for the Celtic Crusaders match at home after he had scored 7 tries in his last 3 appearances and then wasn't going to play him in the Wakefield game but Carmont pulled out. Ainscough scored another four tries in that game and then Noble dropped him and since then he has only appeared twice and never looked the same player.

How has he got from stunning performance at Wakefield to average performance against Warrington and Celtic Crusaders?

Dropping him after the Wakefield performance and the comments in the press seem to be the reason.

Quote: After "I agree, at least thta's a start'"

Hey if we all had the same opinions the world would be a boring place.

Quote: After "Some have though!!!!! This way it backs up their own Wonderful theories until it doesnt solve all the problems and they disappear again and look for some other reason to slate Noble et al!!!'"

Well I can't say I have ever come across them but it looks like we might agree again because they are wrong.

Quote: After "I don't think he was "That Good" to begin with???'"

Yikes! I don't think we will agree on this one.

Quote: After "Look at Richards, He's scoring nearly at the same rate on the left now, Maybe it's just good play down that channel over the other?????'"

Maybe. But some of the tries he scored was just individual brilliance.

Quote: After "Main thing is, he's another GB/Wigan lad who is there or therabout for the 1st team, I'm sure in time he will be there most of the time along with Tomkins/Tomkins/Mossop etc, it just takes time!!!!! '"

It takes a bit more than time. It takes the correct coaching and clearly I believe Brian Noble has not provided this as his downturn in performances suggest.

Quote: After "Ask Saints how putting too many youngsters in last night affected them!'"

They have had the dominance of the last five years due to doing things like that. It's not a bad thing what they did at all. James Graham made his debut at 17 in a very weak side against Les Catalans and look how he has turned out. It's actually a very good move by Saints. It is why they are top.

He has a possible bright future ahead of him - yes.

Quote: "Him and Pryce will be the left wing partnership for many years to come'"

Well they look a long way away from it. Especially Pryce.

Quote: "Yes his performances have dropped, in a lower standard of rugby. What was teh excuse of the other 17players a few weeks ago?'"

The other 17 players? How many players did we have out there?

Quote: "You can't just question one players performances. I just think you are looking for the answer yes it's Noble's fault. Rolling Eyes Are you a Noble Hater/Outer??'"

Well I am looking for an answer you got that bit right. Just no-one has give me one.

I'm not a lets all slate Brian Noble for everything and every move made by the club but have performances been up to scratch this season? Are you happy where we are? Do we look like finishing in 4th and either equalling or better the results of previous years?

If it isn't Noble's fault for the downturn in form of Sean Ainscough then who else's is it?

Quote: Rogues Gallery "But he wasn't.
Yes he was scoring tries, but he was making BASIC mistakes.
Leeds and Hudersfield were prime examples.

I don't want to crucify the lad, he is an exciting talent, but there are ares of his game that need improving, and by a lot.

Today at the reserves he was jumping for the ball. Little things that will make him a good player, but things that he wasn't doing so obviously he IS being coached.'"

He was making basic mistakes but you expect this from any young players. Nevertheless he was putting in some brililant performances and making some runs and moves that were way beyond his years and something I have not seen from a Wigan winger for a long time. The ability to take people on down the wing and create something from nothing with sharp acceleration was making him one of our best performers and were cancelling out his errors that you expect a lad of his age to make.

The irony is without Sean Ainscough I doubt Brian Noble would still be in a job. (Harlequins away).

I will take your word for it he is being coached and improvements are being made. You watch the reserves more than me and probably have a greater knowledge - so I will agree to disagree and hope you are correct.

Mathers!
Shaun Ainscough's drop in form, could be down himself, could be Noble, could be Mathers, could be the fact a deal to go to another club is affecting him, who knows apart from him.

But I don't beleive it's Noble incident

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg

Our form of the last 2 games shows that we are a good club in facing tricky circumstances, we can come through the other side better than most. If we play our young guns in big games I think they can come through for us. It's not ideal but I am not worried just yet.

PS

As for the Brian Noble fan club Jibe I think you will find that there are more people who go watching the games and discuss the games in pubs & clubs who don't come on here who have many a Valid Point abouth the game and the club and the ones I talk to don't all want Noble to stay!!!

They just don't try to manufacture criticism of him for their own Ego enhancing purposes!

End of the day, He is a PROVEN and respected coach at international and SL Level and I would guess he knows more about the game in his little toe than you or I will ever know!
That doesnt mean that every decision he makes will be the correct or perfect one. No coach can ever do that, but he's made more right decisions in his time here than wrong ones and doesn't deserve the abuse that some give him.'"

Does any of this diatribe address the point I made in my post that Noble was wrong to say what he said? No.

Do you spend your time canvassing opinion in pubs and clubs? I have no idea but I am sure the board would be interested to know if that is how you spend your spare time.

As to the jibe about the Noble fan club, given you are so quick to interject from the sidelines about my posts offering nothing to the debate you will have to pardon me for having a little dig back.

Whenever someone raises a point about stuff you disagree with your only response is to go flying off at a tangent. I have not yet seen a coherent argument from you as to why Noble is a good Wigan coach (note the word Wigan in this sentence).

Because Dave,

When anyone disagrees with anything you have to say you claim, as you have done above, that none of the posters comments answer what you asked, you try to belittle them, you ignore any points they make of relevance to promote your own egotistical views etc etc etc.

When I do go to Pubs and clubs, and I don't know what your trying to infer above, I listen and talk and disagree & agree with people who have played the game and coached at Amateur & Professional for 20/30/40/50 years and most of the time they don't resolve to veiled threats and sarcastic Know it all Jibes like some do on here!
If they did they'd get knocked on their s by their own mates, but either way I know their thoughts on the game are more informed than yours will ever be!

As for why Noble is a good "Wigan" coach! (I have noted the word Wigan and I'll ask you "Why does it make it any different that he's a "Wigan" coach"?)

I have many reasons why I think he's a good coach and many why I think is time may be up & better spent elsewhere.

TBH they would be wasted on you as always you will choose to Highlight every one that backs your "Noble Out" campaign and ignore any that may show him in a good light!
You take pessimism way to far!

He was going fine. There was no reason at all to drop him when he did. He dropped him then had to no choice but to play him again due to injuries. He scores 4 tries in that game and gets dropped right away. There is no way that is good coaching or the correct decision.

Regards Ainscough i make no secret of how good i think he is and will be clearly he has flaws but who does not?

His performances in the lower grades have never been consistently wonderful. I think he has played some unbelievable stuff one week and then be very average the next, i think this is more down to the level he is playing at, and partly his attitude to playing it ie that he is too good for it and sometimes he does not get up for it or apply himself fully. I am not defending his attitude or at least the way i see it, but it does seem to me to be the case.

I would not personally read too much into his lower grade performances because of this, although i think it does show a lack of maturity in his attitude.

Roberts in my opinion is also good value for his place at the moment, although i still think long term his position will be 1 for us, he does seem to be playing much more like a 1 of late with some of his kick chases for example and his positioning on the field joining the line inside his centre at times.

Fair play to the lad for comming back on when we were short.

This is the perfect oppertunity to get Mossop back and give Farrell a run. it will do them the world of good to get some games under there belt prior to next season.

it allows TL to get a bit of a run as a 9 and will allow Pryce a run either at (if gleeson is moved to 6) or at 2nd row ?? (i feel the extra intensity of the position will help his fitness no end).
I think some good can come from this situation

Could be looking at both Mossop and Farrell in the 17 next week, one in fact will probably start with Bailey and Tomkins.

Not really sure what to do with the hooking role - I suppose you could play Leuluai there, move Phelps to the halves, Roberts to fullback and Ainscough/Pryce to the wings. Alternatively you could play Gleeson in the halves although I personally wouldn't do that.

Disappointing news with the injuries but exciting in a way that we'll see some new faces and a fresh structure to the side, be interesting to see how we cope. Certainly if there was one area to have an injury crisis, the second row would be the one where we're most able to cope.
