I doubt he will be on six figures. I would imagine it would increase year on year.

Doesn't really matter. Given our squad and who is out on loan he is bound to be one of the top 25 earners as I think we only have something like 27 players named as the 1st team squad and its the top 25 earners of them who count. There are more junior players then him in that 27.
As the is an extension of his current deal it also depends if they have decided to pay him more than he was due until his original contract was due to expire (2011 I think).

| Great news for Wigan, he's no Richie Myler but that can't be helped but it's a sign that you're willing to stcik with him, who do you see alongside him? I think he need's a runner ala Pryce, Maguire, Jeffries that type of player.

As good as he's been i'd be very suprised of it puts him in the top 5 bracket just yet.
I'd guess he's got a decent increase but the sliding scale with him working his way up in terms of salary year on year is more likely i'd say.
Maybe something dependant on appearences.

I love these backhanded compliments.
We didn't need to 'stick with him'. What we needed to do was get him signed up quick, before being dragged into the sort of frenzied auction that will take Myler away from Salford (and quite possibly will take him away from you as well).
It gets better every day, this board. A Wire fan doing condescending. I've seen it all now.

| It is true then, you can't have a sensible chat about RL with 99% of Wigan fans, no wonder your fans are the joke of rlfans. I try and talk sensibly and just get grief..shocking, I notice none of you answered my question. I expect sensible people like Nickykiss or ABP to give a reasonable answer.

You knew what you were doing.
To answer your question though i think he needs a good solid scrum half who can do all the basics well and let sam come up with the more off the cuff stuff.

No wonder we're the joke of RLFans ???
We aren't the ones who've just been caught out having a crafty pop, and have then scuttled to deny it by trying to pretend we were actually doing something more worthy.
At least have the guts to admit what you're up to.

Personally am very confident that Tomkins will turn out to be just as good if not better than Myler in a couple of years.
As for your question I actually think he needs the exact opposite of what you suggest. Tomkins is the 'runner' - what he needs is an organiser and a playmaker to compliment.

You call sensible saying Tomkins is no Myler!!!
Myler is THE most overrated player in SL since Kevin Brown. Put Sam or Eastmond in the Salford team and they’d be far further up the table than they are now. Same goes for England if either Sam or Eastmond played against against the French part timers they would have scored even more.

How did I have a crafty pop? Just stating fact.

Spot on.
He needs an organiser at the side of him so he can concentrate on doing what he does best and at this moment in time thats running and just playing abit of 'off the cuff' rugby.
I think long term he'll become a similar style of player to Sean Long and will have a runner at the side of him but he doesn't need those pressure of organising at the moment.
A player like Orford would go well alongside him imo.

Definite WUM. I'm sorry, I tend to take the opinion of RL experts rather than somebody on a message board, Myler is without doubt the hottest property on the market, Tomkins may well turn out to be a better player, but at the moment Myler is a class above.

That's where it's going to workout well with Briers and Myler. I agree that somebody in that vein would be ideal for Tomkins.
