| Sign Jamie Lyon just to annoy Saints
In all seriousness, give it to Charnley/Marsh.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

What I don't get is why FC persist in playing him on the wing, the kids wasted there. Sadly for us he's on a longterm deal with them.
What I'll be interesting to see, is whether Lenegan is wiling to ever again pay a transfer fee for a player. He has after all done it once for Gleeson. So there's no reason he won't do it again, for the right player of course. Like many on here I'd have Briscoe in a flash, but I feel no amount of money would persuade FC to let him go.

| I feel we need to bring someone in. Despite being talented Marsh and Charnley are both young and still developing. I wouldn't want to rush their progression and risk the chance of not developing them in the right manner. Carmont is an aging player and Joel is very inexperienced in the centres, considering all the above we need to bring someone in for the rest of the season.
It's difficult to see who, no one from the SL is up to the standard who we can get and no one who is under 29ish from the NRL would come over here unless it was for major cash, something which now, and rightfully so, we won't offer.
Matt Cooper clearly proved he's far from past it, but we need a centre ASAP.

| I suspect we're going to see Joel there, short -term at least - until Pat & Amos are fit, then move Goulding to centre.

| At full strength i'd have us;
1. Sam
2. Roberts
3. Charnley
4. Carmont
5. Richards
IMO with Carmont Richards and Roberts in it, thats an experienced enough backline to allow charnley to have a comfortable ride while he gets used to SL. Not to mention players like Hansen/Hoffman/Joel/Farrell/Tuson at the side of him to assist with defence.

Josh Charnley is 19 and has made only seven appearances - only two of them being at Wigan & both were on the wing.
Stefan Marsh has only made six first team appearances and is just 20.
You can't place the responsibilities of playing centre - one of the hardest positions on the field to defend at - on two young lads for the entirety of a Super League season in a ruthless championship winning side. Despite their talent and potential, that's too much pressure & could have a massive permanent detrimental affect on their development, which would be a complete disaster. You can't do it. They'd be replacing two great, experienced players - it would leave us considerably weaker.
As for this season though, we have no choice if Gleeson goes. I don't see where a centre on short-term notice of any quality is going to come from. So I'd like to see the role shared out between them both. Possibly with Karl Pryce/Darrell Goulding or even Joel Tomkins at times getting a chance. We need to establish who is the most likely to make a centre spot their own & that can only be done with a consistent amount of games and patience.
They say every cloud has a silver lining and the one of this incident is that it will present Stefan Marsh, Josh Charnley, Karl Pryce and (possibly when Pat's fit) Darrell Goulding an absolutely fantastic opportunity to stake a claim as Wigan's next centre.

As mentioned in another post, I'd like to see the role shared between Charnley and Marsh. It's a complete lottery whether Darrell Goulding, Karl Pryce or even Joel Tomkins could be our next future centre.
We just have to hope that one of them adapts to the centre spot. I think Madge/Wane are certainly favouring Joel Tomkins and Stefan Marsh at the moment. Much to the dismay of supporters who are backing Josh Charnley. I think they must see Josh as a winger. We'll certainly find out in the next few weeks.

| There is a top class centre available - Timana Tahu. Not sure how we'd fit him in though.

| The way Carmonts started this year i'd have no problem with him staying on for another year and i'd be happy enough to leave the right centre spot as an open fight between Charnley, Marsh, Joel and Karl Pryce. I think we have 4 players there that can all bring some good qualities to the position and especially the first 2 will really develop with an extended run in the position.
As for short term the spot would be given to Charnley for me. He's a big, strong lad who looks to have some good skills and looks very comfortable at this level. He's also shown in his limited first team appearences at HKR that he can handle the position and cause some of the leagues better centres plenty of problems.
It would be Charnleys to lose for me at the moment.
