Definitely. I would go further than that and say Lenaghan is the single best thing to happen to our club in the last 25-30 years. He is probably the best administrator the club has ever had, possibly in Wigan RLs top ten most influential people in terms of contribution to the club. Strange for someone who is non-playing, but I would put him up there in a list with people like Jim Sullivan, Maurice Lindsay etc.

But all rumours start somewhere. And so few of them come to pass.
For the record, I'm sure Sadler wasn't just sitting there one day and decided to tell a lie.
But wherever he heard the gossip from, he still should have checked it with the club, which IL says he didn't. IL went further in fact, stating baldly that his family has no plans to relinquish ownership of Wigan RL. He would look very stupid indeed, after making a statement like that, to then go and sell the club.
I know it's a lot of fun during a boring time to keep stories like this running, and I myself wouldn't dismiss the possibility that moves are afoot to secure the stadium in some way. But Sadler looks foolish at present, especially as he then started to backtrack a little. I honestly wouldn't put too much stock in this rumour.

| Quote: afootingmiracle21-12 "A suspect there could well be an element of truth in this story.
Lenagan could well be selling more equity in Lenagan investments to fund a purchase of Latics and the stadium? Danson has already invested 2.5m. Lenagan could sell another 2.5m and still retain control. Is Lenagan potentially brokering a deal which brings Danson in at almost 50% to fund latics purchase? Admins want £3m for the lot and enough to cover their ongoing losses. If Lenagan had 4-5mil from Danson's investment, plus a small injection of cash himself, that could easily be achieved.
The fact Danson's lawyers were pouring over a data room for Wigan RL would be enough to set Journos off that its a full blown sale, and there is often some truth to these stories. I suspect this could be part of a larger plan to acquire latics.'"
Couple of points
1/ Admins don't want 3m for the lot & Enough to cover their ongoing losses - They want 3.25m (You could argue semantics that they'll take the largest offer etc. but the SPA states 3.25m) - The admins costs are not coming from that 3m or 3.25m or whatever they sell it for - so it won't be 4-5million - it will be 3.25m
2/ The Fact Dansons Lawyers are pouring over a Data room for Wigan RL - Is this a Fact??? Are you saying that Ian Leneghan has recently opened up the books to Mike Dansons lawyers (Above and beyond and kind of due diligence they would have done in June/July last year when he bought 25%)?
As a 25% stake holder I'm sure he would have the right to review the data on a regular basis when required.
Not sure wording it as "The fact Danson's lawyers were pouring over a data room for Wigan RL would be enough to set Journos off that its a full blown sale, and there is often some truth to these stories. I suspect this could be part of a larger plan to acquire latics" is anything more than speculation and joining dots to come up with a story as opposed to any kind of Fact?

So if you don't mind - Do us a favour and just let me know how much our "Big Debts" are?
I know your response will be go look for yourself, but your aware that it's you that made that statement, so you need to back that up with some EVIDENCE. if it's that simple, just post it.
As for why it's worth 10million - possibly the same reason it cost Ian Leneghan 7.5/8million 13 + years ago.
And I would suggest were in a FAR better position & worth more now than we were then - and if you can't see that and think were worth no more than a SL ticket then then I guess you need to do your research

The debts are on the balance sheet and have been referred to many times on here.
The £10 million comes from the new fella paying £2.5 million for 25%.He only needs to spend the same again to get control.
The only asset would be Orrell but without planning permission?
If Lenagan walks away and wants his money back your in same boat as Latics.
Get Real

Ignore the latics troll. Just another tic with delusions of grandeur, who can't hack that the value of his pub league football side is 3x less the value of Wigan, despite the fact they come with a free stadium. That's the only real value of the tics...without it they are worthless

For clarity - No its not a fact....I was simply providing as an example....ie/ if Danson's lot were looking over a data room, it would be enough for Journos to speculate that there was a purchase, when it could just be a share acquisition. Its a frequent mistake that journos make, hence why I used it as an example. I am not presenting this as fact, merely speculating about where the story could have come from and why I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of arranging funds to purchase the stadium and latics

Well - to be more specific
The stadium comes at 3.25m - The Latics are going for a £1 - So I make that 10million x times more???

I would be very surprised (From what I know) if Danson were in the running to buy the stadium/Latics (Can't go to much into why I believe that)
I was just pointing out that you said " The FACT Danson's lawyers" were pouring over the Data room, when they haven't.
Ian Leneghan has never been one to respond to rumours, and many times he's ridden through a storm and not said anything (Sometime to critical responses from fans who wanted him to say something/anything) until FACTS were concrete etc.
For him to rebuke the article so quickly says a lot to me
