10172_1376829585.jpg Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013
Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg |

| If we were offered the chance to continue working with our current employers, but they were going to reduce our money, how happy would we be? I don't know anyone who would look for a new job and take one for less money, meaning the mortgage doesn't get paid or we can't buy the missus a new car. Financially he needs to try and get the best deal he can. But is silverware more important to him?

The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.: |
|
| Pretty fair post FT.
I think SF is in the fortunate position of being able to make his decision not soley on a financial basis.
He has had a lot of money over the last 4 years.
Ofc I haven't seen his bank account, and this is pure speculation.

| Quote: Father Ted "Surely all this is about negotiations?
Wigan have offered Stu Fielden a deal with the terms written in it.
He has asked for more than he's been offered.
His agent has offered his services around to see if there are clubs who will better Wigan's deal.
The agent has received offers which may well offer him say slightly more money but with a confirmed 2 years rather than a 1 + 1 which it is rumoured Wigan have offered. As yet we are not aware SF has re-signed with us or signed with another club. Negotiations are continuing we would deduce.
Fielden is an intelligent man who has put a lot of work in at Wigan. MM reckons him as one of the most professional players he's come across.
So what does he do?
He knows Wigan are on the verge of something big and long lasting with MM as coach and IL chairman.
Hull have reputedly offered him a good deal. Where would you rather be though?
At Wigan with what's happening here under IL & MM's leadership or at Hull with Kath Hetherington and Agar as coach.
Hull are a great club with superb support and facilities but it's run by Rugby League's version of Mork and Mindy! They are going nowhere, whereas Wigan are going places and Stuart Fielden will know the difference.
All he is trying to do is negotiate the best deal he can get for as long a term as he can get. Can't blame him for that.
My bet is on him staying!'"
so where were wigan going for the last few seasons?
the last two seasons before this season, we have had average players on big contracts, now them players have been released we are slowly building again, which will take a couple of seasons, i find your comments laughable as we have a board who has brought the club into the black, the past few seasons we have made profits, our merchandise is second to none and probably the best in the league for that! not bad for a mork and mindy act is it?
money talks in this game, challenging for honours or not, players will sign a contract thats best for them financially, afer all, there not on football wages!

Willie Mason
Mike McIlorum
Gareth Hock
Ryan Hoffman
Joel Tomkins

You would love to see Keith Mason try anything with that pack!

| It is interesting that Leeds' Maguire says that his team mates could get more money else where but prefer to stay at Leeds. That's the attitude we need at Wigan.

| Fielden's won every club honour in the game and this is likely to be his last major contract - it's obvious what his motivation will be, and who can blame him?

I can't see Fui Fui leaving the NRL anytime soon and Mason is apparently asking for alot more than Fielden will be asking for.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

We could sign any prop if Fielden goes! Willie Mason would not be my choice.

Only if you think Hoffman/Lima/Finch/Hock will be earning the same as the outgoing players like Phelps/Feka/Riddell/Bailey.
I suspect they'll be earning quite a lot more as a group (especially given relative exchange rates now compared to when the outgoing players were signed) - hence why SF is being asked to take a pay cut.

No he isn't.
Fielden is being asked to take a pay cut because he's on an unsustainable amount given the Mo contract and the situation we were in when he signed, not because of signings for next year. Without any new players for next season do you seriously think we'd be offering Fielden a contract on anything like a similar yearly salary?
Fielden and Feka take around a quarter of our cap space, add in other likely departures such as Deacon going FT on coaching and Pryce and we should have more than enough to afford our high quality signings from Melbourne without taking food off Fielden's table.

If Graham does eventually go to the NRL which looks increasingly likely, your going to have to work miracles to bring in a prop from Auz better than Graham. The very top echelon of props in Auz aren't going to come to SL because they'd miss out on SOO and Rep football.

| Having further talks with Hull this week, nothing concluded yet but he is doing so with Wigan's blessing. Just trying to tie up the financial details but apparently it's close to being done.
